Sealy FLEX Charcoal Waterproof Machine Washable Fitted Mattress Protector

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Sealy FLEX Charcoal Infused Mattress Protector fits my queen bed perfectly. The material is thick and very durable. I am dealing with hot flashes and this kept me cool at night. I am sleeping like a baby. I love it and highly recommend it.

We bought a new mattress and I wanted a new protector along with it. I didn’t like the terrycloth feel of our old one, so I knew I wanted something that felt “smoother.” I also didn’t want it to change the feel of the mattress with too much padding, so we went with this one since it seemed to check both boxes. It’s a smooth poly weave on top, not too many “bumps” or texture to it, with a very thin vinyl-like coating underneath (which I assume is what makes it waterproof). I was worried this coating would make it sleep hot or sound crunchy, but luckily neither have been the case. It fits our queen bed well with plenty of depth to spare if our mattress were taller. I feel like the whole “charcoal” thing is kind of a gimmick. Our new mattress was offgassing horribly to the point where we’d been stripping sheets and running a fan and air purifier every single morning, and I do feel like this protector at least helped contain it a little bit while we slept. I think it’s moreso the waterproof layer providing that barrier rather than the “charcoal.” Either way, it made sleeping on the mattress more bearable during the offgassing/airing out process. It washes well - I’ve washed on a warm/cold wash and dried on a medium heat dry multiple times now during the process of airing out the new mattress and it’s held up just fine. One con is that I can very clearly see the gray swirl design through our white cotton sheets, which makes them appear thin and cheap. Would have been nice if the protector was all white so this wouldn’t happen. Overall a solid protector that feels smooth, doesn’t run hot, doesn’t make a crunchy sound, helped contain offagssing from a new bed a little while we slept, and washes well.

I was skeptical of the 5 star review since most appeared to be from a free product promotion. I purchased this mattress pad during Target Circle Week because I was desperate to find something for my new memory foam mattress. Anyone who has ever owned a memory foam mattress knows that they have a distinct smell when they are new and that it can take months for that to dissipate. A month into owning my new memory foam mattress that smell was still going strong. This is an online item only and when it arrived at my home I was skeptical because it comes in a tiny box. I activated it in the dryer per the instructions and notice that the backing is almost rubberized. I was concerned that this would make the memory foam even hotter when I sleep on it but to my pleasant surprise it does not affect the temperature at all. In fact the top layer of my mattress is cooling and that effect still occurs through this mattress pad. What DOES NOT occur is the smell. I would say that this mattress pad has effectively cut down 90% of the new mattress smell and it has been wonderful. Moreover, it stays in place and doesn't shift around when I use my adjustable base, and it is thin and doesn't gather up, unlike the padded mattress protector I had before (thinking that a thicker mattress pad would help with the smell). I am so pleased with this purchase that I bought another one for backup. It also has very deep pockets for those with deeper mattresses. Due to the backing material of this mattress cover, if you're the kind of person who sweats at night, I imagine this would be a great option for protecting your mattress without extra bulk and added heat. I absolutely recommend, and for what it's worth, I found Target's regular price to be better than the sale price at every other retailer on this item.

Nothing flimsy or plastic feeling yet not stiff or uncomfortable. It washed up great and kept its shape. I would highly recommend this product.

The mattress pad is made with really soft and good quality fabric. My husband says he likes that is feels cool and not warm like other pads that used to make him sweat in the middle of the night. It fits my deep mattress really good and it stays in place. I'm impressed that I have washed a few times since I got it and it still looks like new, and it has also kept my mattress clean. I really recommend it.

This mattress pad does the job it's supposed to do. It washes very well and is easy to care for. It stays put with all around elastic too! It doesn't have a lot of padding/is pretty thin but doesn't effect the comfort of my bed.

However, after using it for the last few weeks, I can report that it does work to keep us cooler at night. It is a nice thickness that keeps you comfy, and for two people who sleep at very different temps, this pad is successful.

It has to be put in the dryer to activate which is no problem. Very comfortable and has no smell to the pad. Love the way it keeps me cool.

This mattress protector is made very well! We have tried a lot and they have all been so cheaply made and fall apart quick. This one is made really well! It feels nice and heavy but keeps my daughter much cooler at night. She is no longer sleeping with 2 fans on. For the price this is awesome! Well worth trying

He loves it so much and the mattress pad is so soft he didn't realize a sheet should go over top still. So with that being said it has not snagged or ripped. Fits the mattress perfect and comfortable. He says it's not to hot to sleep on and he would complain about that.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A while back, we put this Sealy Flex Charcoal Infused Mattress Pad on our new mattress, and we are really pleased with it. It has features that not all mattress pads have and in addition to the comfort and protection of it for our mattress, it also gives us peace of mind. It provides a waterproof layer that makes me less worried that our grandson (or even Grandpa too) will spill something on it that ruins our new mattress. A lot of waterproof products make crackly noises, but this is silent, so it doesn't disturb your sleep. It is also infused with charcoal which is supposed to help with odors and keep you cooler and drier. No complaints here about that because we like being cooler at night. We sleep better. It does have deep pockets for fitting today's taller mattresses, good stitching and stays on the bed well. And it really looks nice. It has a nice pattern made by the stitching in it. All in all, it's the perfect new mattress pad for our new mattress.

This mattress pad keeps the bed cool, isn't too thick, and makes a world of difference when sleeping. Just enough padding to be completely comfortable. Highly recommend.
