Q: The surface does not wipe clean easily with a regular chalkboard eraser nor a whiteboard eraser. Does it need to be "primed" like regular chalkboards? Is it ok to use a damp rag? Using regular chalk

Q: Does this scratch easily through use of normal hard chalk? A review on a site for a different chalkboard said theirs got easily scratched using regular chalk and it seemed made only for chalk pens.

It mounts with 2 metal j-hooks nailed into the wall, then inserted into keyhole openings on the back of the board; and can be mounted vertically or horizontally. Hope that helps!

Not solid wood
The packaging said it was made of wood, so i thought the frame was solid wood pieces, but it's a fiber board wrapped with vinyl that has a wood grain. It smwlls terrible, I'm not sure if it's from the vinyl or the board.
