A: Be very careful cleaning the pail apparently you can’t use any liquid to wipe it down or it rusts and according to customer service it’s not covered by warranty since you’re only allowed to clean it with a dry cloth

Q: Does anyone have problems/issues's with their Ubbi's really smelling when they have the lid open? Despite having an empty trash bag inside....? I know some smells can linger in many trash cans, but this seems to be different.

A: Yes, mine is currently VERY smelly and we've had it for 17 months now. Ive tried everything to make it not stink- deodorizers, bleach, letting it sit in the sun for hours- and nothing helps. This morning I walked into my sons room after him sleeping with the door shut for 11 hours and the whole room smelled of the diaper pail, and the lid was shut. Ive determined its just time to get rid of the pail sadly.

A: Hi there! The Ubbi diaper pail is made of steel and paired with rubber seals to create an airtight container that keeps all odors locked inside. Due to its contents the inside of the pail can smell and when the lids are opened, some odors may escape, but our promise is that the odors will not permeate through the steel into the room when the lids are closed.The Ubbi diaper pail does not require any special refills and can be used with any standard size kitchen trash bag which allows for more frequent bag changing. We do have a lavender-scented odor absorbing gel as well as our lavender-scented diaper sacks to individually wrap diapers to help keep the smell at bay.

Q: Is the door on the top of pail user friendly? I think I would miss the foot pedal in the midst of changing a fussy baby.

A: Hi there! The sliding lid of the Ubbi diaper pail can easily be used with one hand while dealing with a squirming baby! The sliding lid is actually engaged with a magnet to further keep the container airtight, but just simply slightly push down on the handle and slide the lid back. To close the sliding lid, there is no need to push down on the handle because the magnet is already disengaged so just slide it back into the closed position. The reason that the Ubbi diaper pail was designed with a sliding lid rather than a foot pedal is because the sliding lid minimizes air disruption and is only large enough to quickly drop in a tightly rolled up diaper whereas pails with foot pedals maximize air disruption and can further waft odors into the air. REAL REVIEW-20 MONTHS IN!
I was gifted this for my son for my babyshower. I was so excited! This Pail does hold in the odors. You can smell anything…when it’s CLOSED. My Son is 20 months now so we have to empty this twice a week. They don’t hold as many diapers when they get bigger. This was great when he was a newborn and smaller. They hold tons of diapers. I did buy the Ubbi Trash bags and when he was smaller, the box lasted me 1 FULL YEAR! Yes, 1 year. Now I go through the bags twice or maybe 3 times a week. I do wish they had a bigger and TALLER pail. Bending over to open and close the pail is not ideal when you have your baby on the changing table. Also, when you open this pail a you will smell poop and pee right at your face. It will stink up the entire room! I put fresheners at the bottom but man it smells so bad. So now when I open this I just walk out the room. It’s like a stink bomb just went off. This pail also holds smells. So if you try to air this pail out..the smell still Lingers. But overrall at the end of the day it does what it’s supposed to do. Hold odors in…till you open it. :(

Doesnt lock in odor
No matter how many times I clean the inside, change the bag, or add an air refresher at the bottom it still smells after one poopie diaper! Not worth the money at all as it does not lock in the odor and our daughter’s nursery constantly smells.

I used the same diaper pail with my twins a few years ago and now I’m thrilled to get this as I have a new baby coming and donated my old one! I can confirm that this diaper pail is light weight and keeps the smells inside and locked in. It holds an incredible amount of diapers so you really only need to change the bag once a week. Best of all, you can use your own garbage bags!!! No having to buy expensive bags to go with this product. 10/10 a must have baby item!

I would say my favorite part about this is that we don't need to buy a specific trash bag for it and can just use our regular trash bags which is a big plus as is one less thing to worry about.
