Description
"Two childhood friends discover that love—and family—can be found in unconventional ways in this timely, moving novel from the USA TODAY bestselling author of the “beautifully Southern, evocative Peachtree Bluff series” (Kristin Harmel, internationally bestselling author of The Winemaker’s Wife).
Recently separated Amelia Saxton, a dedicated journalist, never expected that uncovering the biggest story of her career would become deeply personal. But when she discovers that a cluster of embryos belonging to her childhood friend Parker and his late wife Greer have been deemed “abandoned,” she’s put in the unenviable position of telling Parker—and dredging up old wounds in the process.
Parker has been unable to move forward since the loss of his beloved wife three years ago. He has all but forgotten about the frozen embryos, but once Amelia reveals her discovery, he knows that if he ever wants to get a part of Greer back, he’ll need to accept his fate as a single father and find a surrogate.
Each dealing with their own private griefs, Parker and Amelia slowly begin to find solace in one another as they navigate an uncertain future against the backdrop of the pristine waters of their childhood home, Cape Carolina. The journey of self-discovery leads them to an unforgettable and life-changing lesson: Family—the one you’re born into and the one you choose—is always closer than you think.
From “the next major voice in Southern fiction” (Elin Hilderbrand, #1 New York Times bestselling author), Under the Southern Sky is a fresh and unforgettable exploration of love, friendship, and the unbreakable ties that bind."

A heartfelt read
5 out of 5 stars

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ In her latest book, Kristy Woodson Harvey, tackles the serious issues of losing a spouse to cancer and having to decide on what to do with their frozen embryos. This is the predicament Parker is in, since it wasn’t the original plan. The reason his wife, Greer froze their embryos is because she thought she would survive the cancer. Does he choose to try to find a surrogate or does he abandon them? This book will have you engaged from start to finish as you read about Parker’s journey as he navigates though his grief and important decisions. I love how this author chose to write about important topics by weaving them into an engaging story!

This book checks all the marks with the way it weaves through the lives of two Southern families, united in secrets, love, friendship, and life. Told through multiple points of view, we learn about Amelia and Parker, brought back together as friends because of a story Amelia is writing. Running the gamut of emotions from heartfelt to heartache, Amelia is starting over as her marriage has ended while Parker is just going through the motions of life, having never moved on after the loss of his wife. The news Amelia brings Parker will change both of their lives, but not in a neat and tidy way. We journey through the ups and downs of their lives, the impact of former spouses, family, and travel from trendy Palm Beach, to flashy NY, and back the soothing lure of home in North Carolina. Under the Southern Sky is unputdownable, so grab your sweet tea--this is sure to be the hottest book of summer. **received an ARC from the publisher**
Utter perfection!

Let me start by saying this novel is complete and utter perfection. I don’t just mean within its genre or for this author, either - I mean across the board, hands down PERFECTION. The characters in this novel are so raw that their emotions seeped through the pages and into my heart. Amelia overcame every obstacle, every heart break, and every let down with extreme southern grace. There was never a point I worried about her failing because there’s no way she would have allowed that of herself. Parker, a grieving widower, can’t move on from losing Greer. When he finds out from Amelia, his childhood neighbor and best friend, that she’s discovered his frozen embryos were deemed abandoned -he knows he has to hold onto what’s left of Greer. The intricacy and delicate manner in which Kristy Woodson Harvey weaves difficult topics, heartbreak, and joy into such a profound story is amazing. If I could give this book one million stars Under the Southern Sky, I would. It’ll be one that stays with me for a very, very long time.
