Description

Don't guess, test! UpSpring Milkscreen is an easy, non-invasive, 2-minute test to detect alcohol in breast milk for any nursing mother who still wants to enjoy an occasional cocktail (or glass of wine) without always pumping and dumping. Simply saturate the test pad with a few drops of breast milk, then check for any color change 2 minutes later. Any color change on the test pad 2 minutes after saturation indicates that alcohol is detected.** Easy to use, the UpSpring Milkscreen breast milk alcohol test strips help provide peace of mind while breastfeeding your little one.

**The presence of alcohol is detected by Milkscreen at or above 13.1 mg/d

Milkscreen is a consumer product and is not intended to be used in the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of alcohol intoxication or poisoning or other health-related conditions in women or nursing babies.

Q: I was wondering how this works? Do you check it by putting urine on it?

submitted by SIDEWAYS - 3 years ago
  • A: Milkscreen consists of a plastic strip with a reactive test pad applied to one tip. Two minutes after saturation with breast milk, the test pad will change color if alcohol is present at or above 13.1 mg/dL.

  • A: "Milkscreen for breastfeeding" for.. "BREASTFEEDING"!! why would you test your urine if you're feeding breast milk to your baby??!

submitted bynotsocommonsense - 4 months ago

Q: can you use urine on it instead

submitted by bb - 9 months ago
  • A: Milkscreen is designed to detect the combination of breast milk and alcohol. It will not detect alcohol in urine.

They work! I drank more than half a bottle of sangria within 3 hours. Checked when it was time to pump and sure enough it worked! *if after 2 minutes the pad changes color: it detected alcohol.

Does not work, I tested 3 tests back to back. The first 2 tests never changed color, the 3rd test also didn’t change color after 2 minutes. I left the 3rd test on my table and checked it an hour later and saw that it had changed color to detect alcohol in my system. As others have mentioned I agree that these tests do not work. They should not be advertised to make us mothers believe they will work.

I was surprised this didn't show any coloration after having 2 glasses of wine over 2 hours, but let formula fed just incase because I felt more comfortable. for curiosities sake I dipped the test strip in a glass of wine and it still did not change color and give a positive result so either I got an old product or it gives false negatives.

I liked the concept but I could not really tell if the strip was positive or negative. Buy at own risk

Hi Jasmin, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied. Milkscreen has been scientifically proven to detect alcohol at 13.1 mg/dL. Any color change at the two minute mark indicates the detection of Alcohol in the breast milk. If the pad remains white, Alcohol above 13.1 mg/dL is not detected. I hope this helps in future testing.

I have no clue if this works…maybe wine was out my system but i went on a whim and tested early than the suggested 4 hr wait time for two glasses of wine (kinda had three technically) and it was negative…i tasted the alcohol on my breath..did it again and nothing. Seems fishy and scary. Three stars bc really nice to have…just can’t prove if accurate

These test strips work really well! I was skeptical at first because of some of the negative reviews that people posted but either they somehow got duds or they didn’t know how to use them or read them. I’ve used these on two separate occasions this year so far and they give a quick result and I believe it’s accurate because I tested every time I pumped, which was every few hours and it did have results that corresponded with the decrease on alcohol throughout the night. My only complaint is that I wish I bought a bigger pack!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great way to drink a couple drinks and safely treat your breast milk before feeding your baby. Saturate the test strip in breast milk, if the test strip changes color in 2 seconds, then dump until strip doesn't change color. All approved!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I want to suggest this product but I'm currently pregnant so I decided to ask my sister who is also breastfeeding her little one to test the sample out for me This weekend for our mom birthday party. My sister had about 3 to Maybe 4 drinks and afterward we tested her milk but she had already pump just incase she needed to feed the little one. We the test strip did change so we tested again two hours later but it was lighter this time so around three and a half hours later the strip was back to normal. I usually feed my little one every 2 to three hours time frame so this definitely gives me an idea and help me feel safer if I decide to enjoy alcohol while breastfeeding. I highly suggest that you always try to pump extra before drinking just to be safe. I will say it work and I don't drink alone so I might buy a couple box but that's it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Milkscreen Test for Alcohol in breast milk literally gives you fast results. I was very frantic about having a couple of drinks with the girls. I was so lucky to be able to pump a few days in advance. Having a little one alcohol was a concern. I was told to try this product. I love how quick the results came. A day after having alcoholic beverages I was able to breast feed again. I will forever be grateful for the milkscreen test. Quick results and easy to understand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It works as advertised. Had a couple glasses of margarita and after 30 minutes, I tested and the color change. Tested after 1.5 hrs and there’s a slight change in color. 2 hrs later, almost no change. I would say though that the time difference which I usually allow before breastfeeding (which is 2 to 3 hrs) is about the same effect on this one. Is this a necessity, the answer is no, but definitely gives reassurance. I only drink occasionally so it’s not really something that I would use often.
