I never have had such a hard time putting a unit together! Either all the dowel holes were drilled to shallow or the dowels we to long. I had to cut everyone down (there were a lot!) I even ordered another one and had the same problem. It was perfect for what I needed it for so I managed to get it together with a lot of glue! It works fine.
