Vanicream Conditioner for Sensitive Skin - Unscented - 12 fl oz

I trust Vanicream to provide all of my personal care products. They are the only company I have found that actually formulates products for allergic/reactive/sensitive skin types like mine and my daughters. We've tried "toxin free"/ "natural, organic" brands only to be left with raw, bumpy, itchy, inflamed skin and scalps. The Vanicream shampoo and conditioner clean our scalps and provides softness and shine all without the fragrance, itch, flakes and back acne. The gel gives my waves definition and keeps the frizz at bay. The face wash and body wash clean without leaving us dry or red. Also, there is no residue or smell, not even a lingering chemical one. We just smell like nothing which is what clean should smell like. Only recently did we switch from a popular brand of moisturizer with ceramides to Vanicream moisturizing lotion. Turns out the popular brand was giving us zits and blackheads and somehow also making us feel dry? Not vanicreams lotion. Our skin feels hydrated and more importantly we don't notice our skin which says it all. I also don't feel like I need "anti-aging" products anymore. I did try the vanicream face moisturizer but something in it broke me out (glyceryl stearate maybe?) but the moisturizing lotion makes my face skin look amazing so I'm cool with that. We hope to try the deodorant next too! Thank you Vanicream for caring about the health of your customers. If you keep the formulas the same we will keep buying. You really have made our lives a little easier.

Pros: This conditioner works well in hard water, which is good, because my city's water is extremely hard. The conditioner makes my hair soft, but doesn't make it feel weighed down or coated like a lot of other conditioners do. I have hair that's fine-stranded but dense, so I have to be picky with conditioners or my hair just feels heavy. This product is also completely fragrance free, which is why I buy it. I also think it's a good value for my money. Cons: This stuff is very thick, kind of like an older-style "cream rinse" as conditioner used to be called. The pump bottle helps, but would be more useful on the shampoo than it is on the conditioner. Also, I suggest leaving it on for the 1-3 minutes that Vanicream suggests for it to really condition the way it needs to. Even with those cons, I still recommend this if you need a good quality fragrance-free conditioner.

This product was recommended for sensitive skin but dried out and thinned my teenage daughter’s hair. She would rather use Cleure or Honest.

Just awful! My dermatologist suggested Vanicream shampoo and conditioner for itchy scalp. The website states "Helps prevent tangles and leaves hair more manageable. Rinses easily without excess residue or build-up. Leaves hair feeling clean and healthy. Adds body and volume." It did rinse easily, but it did none of the other things for my hair. I can barely get a wide tooth comb through my chin-length hair after washing with Vanicream shampoo and conditioner, because it leaves my hair feeling tacky, gummy, unmanageable, and frizzy. The Vanicream Conditioner was even worse than just using the Vanicream shampoo alone, since it added even more to the gummy feeling texture. And the product hasn't eliminated the itchy scalp issue. At this point, I'd rather deal with the itchy scalp and have hair that feels and smells clean and manageable.

Looking for a co-wash instead of a shampoo- New Wash left my hair really nice after a short transition period but I was getting small breakouts along my hairline. Had AI help me find an alternative and this is what it came up with and so much happier! It has most of the same ingredients, cleans as well as New wash- costs 1/5 the price and no reaction on my skin with this. Follow same directions as New Wash ( see their website). Hair is soft, clean, slightly more wave than with normal shampoos. Does require scrubbing.

I have fine, wavy, dry, low porosity hair and a sensitive scalp. The positive is that the conditioner is unscented. The negatives are everything else. It provided absolutely no moisture.

My dermatologist told me to switch to vanicream unscented shampoo and conditioner to help alleviate scalp irritation. Result was immediate. I am still dealing with medical issue but this shampoo and conditioner is definitely helping with less scalp irritation.

Love the shampoo and conditioner. Hopefully my local target will start carrying them in store.

This conditioner didn't irritate my scalp, but it wasn't very moisturizing and didn't have slip. It was hard to apply to my textured hair. I wouldn't repurchase.

I love the fact that this is fragrance free, it doesn't give me back and chest acne!

I have gone back to purchasing this wonderful conditioner again now that it comes in the pump dispenser, which works perfectly. Thank you so much Vanicream team, well done!!! For anyone who liked the conditioner but was frustrated with how hard it was to get it out of the squeeze bottle, I totally recommend, being so pleased at how easy it is to use in its new pump dispenser.

I didn't realize there was an earlier version of this product. When doing some investigating, I found a great website that lists 'core' allergens in hair products. It was several years old, however, so this current version is formulated without all but one of the core allergens it originally contained (CSA). What folks need to realize is that this kind of product will not give you the 'slip' or 'mermaid hair' that other products boast about. That's because the ingredients that give you that feeling are nasty allergens--for many of us. I never had the sensitivity that I do now (I'm 73) to styling products (and body washes). So many of these products gave me prickles and itching all over! It seems like many of us are experiencing the same thing. But back to the conditioner: you need to use more than you might be used to, and add a little water on your hair and squeeze it in. Make sure to leave it on for several minutes. You'll be able to run your fingers or a brush through it, just don't be too aggressive. You have to adjust your expectations with these products because they're formulated without all the JUNK other products contain. Give the shampoo a try, too. That 'dry' feeling is a reflection of what ISN'T in the shampoo. If you shampoo a second time, it requires very little product and foams nicely. My new dermatologist said that Vanicream is pretty much the Gold Standard for (true) hypoallergenic products. Good luck! (By the way, I have thick, curly, gray hair).

I tried this a few times. I used the dandruff shampoo once a week. The conditioner left my hair very dry and unmanageable. The dandruff shampoo is ok but I'm going to use a different conditioner.

Fragrance Free which is a relief because I had a concussion and have a super sense of smell now. Makes hair feel softer after doing both shampoo and conditioner. Doesn't leave my hair feel quite as clean. Feels a little thicker and greasier. I followed instructions and did the 2 lather. Bottle is easy to hold for my arthritis hands. Can squeeze amount out fairly simply. Small print on bottle. Would be nice if bigger. Appreciate white bottle with some bold text. Smaller bottle but okay. Arrived late.

The newer pump design is much better than the older squeeze bottle.

Usual hair conditioner leaves product build up and it weighs my hair down charging the texture to dry/straight/slight fuzzy. But with Vanicream conditioner my hair isn't heavy and after one wash my curly hair is back.

I can spread it over my hair effectively now and get it out of the bottle without banging it on the wall. Reformulation is so great on every level! I think it is more moisturizing and detangling ability is improved. Thank you Vanicream for hearing our experiences using you products and making them better.

Vanicream changed my hair for the better. These products don’t make my hair feel heavy and I have noticed more hair growth. Super affordable as well.
