Best tomato planter

This is by far the best tomato planter I’ve ever owned. It is so well made, easy to move around with wheels and the plant grows evenly through the trellis. No more flimsy wire trellises. The self water feature is a bonus!
Incredible self watering planter!

To preface this: I am a terrible gardener. If I can have success, so can you. I bought a few of these for my balcony that gets very full sun. I've never been successful growing anything on there because the sun is very intense up there in the summer. So far, so good this year! In one I am growing tomatoes and it's the biggest tomato plant I've ever grown. It's producing so many tomatoes, I've had to clip some of the branches to the trellis to prevent the branches from breaking. Small tomatoes might be a better choice for this plantar. I do have to fill it the reservoir at least once (sometimes twice) a day, likely because of the intense sun and the enormous size of this tomato plant. In the second plantar, I put cucumbers and peppers. I planted them later and they are suddenly growing quite rapidly. I probably should not have planted two plants in one of these, but so far so good. I did hang some string trellis to help the cucumbers climb upwards and that seems to be working. I only need to fill the reservoir about once a week. Again, I really have no idea what I'm doing, but it does seem like I am having some success with these.

I’ve been using the VEGO Tomato Self-Watering Planter on my balcony and I’m really happy with it. It was very easy to assemble. Everything fit together well, and the instructions were simple to follow. I had it set up in just a few minutes. The planter feels sturdy and well-built, especially considering the price. The included support cage is strong enough to support a growing tomato plant without leaning or shaking. The self-watering feature works as expected and helps keep the soil consistently moist, which is great when I don’t have time to water every day. It also has a clean, modern look that fits nicely on my balcony. My tomato plant is doing well in it, and I can see this planter lasting through many growing seasons. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and easy-to-use self-watering planter.
Easy to assemble. Love it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to assemble. Love it and will definitely consider trying more of your self watering products. I live in the Denver area and our semi-arid climate is a bit rough on plants. I was struggling to keep up with watering my potted plants. This planter helps solve that issue.

I initially loved this self watering pot. However the trellis falls apart easily. If it was locked into place rather than pushed with nothing holding it, the trellis would be superior.

The trellis is pure junk. It is useless and cannot hold a tomato. It hardly stands on its own. Very very disappointing. The container and self-watering part is fine but the lack of a functioning trellis makes it a poor choice for tomatoes.
Shocked that I don’t love the self-watering tomato planter

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The wicking action did not work for me. It became anaerobic-smelly after a week and the plants did not thrive. Perhaps this is why it was a freebie on my large order. I have many vego products that I LOVE and I will continue to buy more—great company, great products-except this one

I like the pot and trellis. The soil on top dries out a lot but a few inches down the soil Is moist. This will be great when I am away from home for any period of time. Not sure how well the trellis will work over time. It keeps popping out of its connectors. I used garden twine to hold it together.

I'm nearing the end of the growth cycle of a fantastic rare heirloom tomato. I typically grow these 'in-ground' but decided to put this to the test. I love the pot. It's encouraged the growth of this gorgeous plant for weeks. I am using a special soil that I make that has a lot of excellent nutrients in it as well as mycorrhizae and worm castings. The top of the soil has straw to help keep the soil around the stem moist. I also have the plant on a careful feeding regimen. The one issue I have with this system is the trellis. It comes apart, feels cheap and insufficient and frankly, I'm worried about how it will handle the weight of the coming tomatoes. The issue seems to be in the plastic fittings that you slide the metal tubes into. At assembly they seemed like they would do well as the fit was tight, and it seemed 'snug' but that was the last time it was snug. the trellis has been coming apart with little to no stress being put on it. I normally would just 'roll with it' and figure out ways to repair it but for the money I spent on this planter it seems like something I shouldn't have to fix? I have attached a photo showing the discoloration where the metal trellis tubes slide into the fittings. I'm nowhere near as strong as I used to be and can't imagine that I somehow found myself with herculean strength and pushed these tubes in too far!?!

The trellis was difficult to put together. It was exciting to get the product as a bonus item however, to try something we may not have purchased. If you don't have the yard space for a garden, this product would work well.

Not sure where all these great rviews are coming from. The two I have seem rather cheaply made - the water gage especially. It looks like (in the photos) it is well made - but it is really just ordinary plastic. I would not buy again.

Great size and look. I was actually most impressed with the quality of the trellis though. It is not a brittle plastic by any means. The whole set up is very well made and designed.
