Description

This carton of Vital Farms Organic Pasture-Raised Eggs holds 12 Large, Brown, Organic Grade A Certified Humane eggs that come from our collection of small family farms to give you a protein-packed meal.
Vital Farms Eggs begin with pasture-raised hens who enjoy a minimum of 108 square feet each of room to roam on small family farms. Our girls have the freedom to forage for local grasses, succulents and wildflowers on rotated pastures while enjoying fresh air and sunshine. Vital Farms began as a single-family farm. As we grew, we didn’t make our farm bigger – we found more like-minded farmers who put the welfare of their feathered friends first. Today, we work with over 350 small family farms who give the girls the outdoor lifestyle they deserve.

Q: Does the organic feed contain soy or corn? Thank you.

submitted by LuvHolidays - 6 months ago
  • A: Hi there! Our hens spend their days foraging in the pastures, seeking out native and seasonal grasses like clover, rye, and wild onion. They don’t stop with plants, though! You’ll often catch our girls munching on a grasshopper or snacking on a worm. Alongside the food they forage, our girls receive supplemental feed. The supplemental feed consists primarily of corn and soybean meal, which the hens need for protein, as well as additional natural ingredients including paprika and marigold, which, along with their outdoor snacks, provide nutrients and help the hens produce eggs with deep orange yolks that our consumers prefer. Our supplemental feed is developed by an animal nutritionist, ensuring the girls receive all the nutrients they need to support their health, active lifestyles, and overall well-being. Supplemental feed is provided to our hens in the barns and they can peck at it as they wish throughout the day to ensure they get all the nutrients they need. Because our girls get to choose how they spend their days, some girls spend more time outdoors foraging and feasting on natural grasses and crunchy critters, and some girls prefer to spend more time in the barns munching on the supplemental feed. It really varies from girl to girl!

Q: What's the difference between the USDA organic feed for the organic pasture raised eggs and the conventional feed for pasture raised eggs?

submitted by Mike Ha - 7 months ago
  • A: Hi Mike! Thanks for reaching out with your question about our different egg cartons. All of our eggs are pasture-raised from family farms where the hens have the freedom to forage outdoors year-round. Our farmers do not use any herbicides or pesticides on any of our small family farms. The girls' foraging naturally maintains the land. What differentiates these cartons of eggs is the supplemental feed that the girls receive. Our organic eggs come from girls that are given feed that meets USDA organic standards. Our organic eggs are also non-GMO (reminder - anything that's organic will always be non-GMO!). The eggs in our standard black lid carton come from girls that receive conventional feed. Our conventional feed is far from conventional though! When a new farm joins, we start with a recommended mix, and then continue to adjust based on the needs of the flock. Our farmers and Farmer Support Team closely monitor the girls and cater the feed to their needs year-round. I hope that helps clear things up, but please email us at info@vitalfarms.com if you have any other questions.

Q: What is the difference between Organic Pasture raised Eggs vs Pasture raised eggs? What are the chickens fed in each case ?

submitted by RD - 1 year ago
  • A: All of our eggs are pasture-raised. Organic eggs come from girls that receive feed that meets USDA organic standards. The standard black lid carton eggs come from girls that receive conventional feed.

submitted byDShaul - 1 year ago

Q: Do these chickens have 100% outdoor living 100% of their life times or only outdoor access? (Since there two different things) Thanks in advance for answering my question.

submitted by Jj - 1 year ago
  • A: Vital Farms hens have outdoor access daily, sun up to sun down! Around sundown the hens are herded back indoors to sleep safely inside.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I appreciate good eggs. This was a great coupon. I prefer to buy from farmers markets but look for organic, free range, cage free eggs in general. Animal welfare is my primary care.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] They were eggs! I bought these and yep... they were pretty much what I would expect from eggs. I didn't really notice any difference in flavor or texture. The yolks were a little more orange than the cheap ones from the grocery store, but yeah... otherwise I had no complaints. Unfortunately, my grocery store rarely carries these so I probably won't be switching brands any time soon unless I need fancy eggs for some reason.

Target recently raised the price by about $4. They used to be around $7.89. Now the eggs are $11.79. That's a steep jump. Unfortunately i wont be purchasing vital farms from Target anymore.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] They are one of the better tasting eggs, in general. I notice the colour of the egg yolks are a rich yellow compared to other eggs. I always enjoy having them when I make eggs for breakfast.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love all Vital Farms products. Their eggs are the best, however the packaging is what really makes me a fan. No plastic or styrofoam that will last for the next 3000 years. Nice just.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These eggs are so good. The yokes are dark, almost orange and are so perky and tasty. I’ve made them hard boiled, over easy and in an omelet…..they make everything delicious. Other eggs now bore me because I made these my standard!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These were very nice xl eggs. I generally buy large eggs for my recipes, but these were very nice for scrambled eggs. They looked and tasted good as well. I will keep these in mind for when I want xl eggs, but I will look out for this brand for more regular purchase in a large egg.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] They were good and organic. Pretty similar to regular eggs, but I guess more elevated since they are pasteurized eggs and organic compared to the basic eggs at the store. They are pricey, so if you want to be organic and spend extra money then get them. If not you will be okay with the basic eggs from your local grocery store.
