He plans a grand voyage to America and Panama, and just months before his ship is set to depart, he falls madly in love.
Beautiful and compassionate Elizabeth Klein works in the clothing shop when she is not nursing her ill parents. She is smitten with Thomas from the beginning, and among Thomas's family grapevines, the young lovers promise to marry as soon as Thomas's ship returns.
