A: fabric softener will reduce the absorbancy of any bath towel and should be avoided if maximum absorbancy is desired.
A: Ignore the response that says "Yes!" because it is incorrect. Towels should never be rinsed with fabric softener nor dried with dryer sheets, unless you like towels that do not absorb water.
A: You should never ever use fabric softener on towels of any kind. It ruins both the absorbancy and the towel's natural softness.
A: To clarify I ordered these specific towels and the bath towels most definitely have a loop. I was asking if that’s a new feature.

A: They are not like super fluffy hotel towels, and not scratchy like linen ones either. It's more like a thick firm gauze, and feels thin when using it almost like a kitchen towel but still very absorbent. They definitely do not push water around as long as you don't use fabric softener on them.

A: After washing in warm water and drying on low setting, my bath towels shrunk about 3 inches on each side (and the towel got fluffier due to its waffle weave), then as soon as I used them the first time they stretched back out to almost the original size. I would say in the end they only shrunk about 1-2 inches max. I love them!
