About the Book
"Walk Below Your Feet" is a guide to the hidden art of influence. Drawing on diplomacy, history, and philosophy. Awale Kullane reveals how power moves not through noise, but through discipline, clarity, and strategic invisibility.Book Synopsis
"Walk Below Your Feet" is not a typical leadership book--it does not offer tips on building charisma or climbing the ranks by visibility. Instead, it introduces the reader to a different form of power, one rooted in restraint, discretion, and silent influence. Former Ambassador Awale Kullane takes readers on a journey through diplomatic history, business strategy, and the subtle lessons of philosophy to reveal how true influence is often invisible. Drawing from his own experience in international diplomacy and leadership, he shows that those who shape events are rarely the ones at the podium. This book is for those who sense there is more to leadership than performance. It speaks to anyone who has ever shaped outcomes quietly, waited for the right moment to act, or chosen precision over noise. Whether you are navigating diplomacy, business, or personal purpose, it invites you to rethink how power truly moves and how you can move with it. "Walk Below Your Feet" will challenge how you view leadership, inspire you to rethink influence, and equip you with the mindset to move with purpose without the spotlight.
About the Author
Awale Kullane is a former Somali ambassador with over 17 years of experience in international relations and diplomacy. He has served as ambassador to China and Sweden, deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, and chargé d'affaires in Washington, D.C. His diplomatic work has taken him from high-level negotiations in Beijing to engagements at the United Nations in New York, offering him a rare window into how power operates quietly and effectively in global affairs. He also served as Chief of Staff and Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister of Somalia, playing a key role in strategic coordination and national development during a pivotal period in Somali governance. He holds a master's degree in organizational leadership, along with postgraduate diplomas in public administration, leadership, and mediation from institutions in Europe. Throughout his career, he has advised presidents and prime ministers during some of the most pivotal moments in Somalia's recent political history.
"Walk Below Your Feet" is his first book, and it offers a personal and professional reflection on how influence works not through noise or status, but through silence, discipline, and clarity. The book distills lessons from global politics, diplomacy, business, and philosophy into a quiet guide for those who move with purpose but prefer not to be seen.
