Title is apt for game play

My 11 year old grandsons recieved this game as a gift. I spent about half an hour reading game play. Then the 3 of us spent another 45 min to an hour trying to figure the game out. Instructions and how to start game play among other things are not very clear. This is not a game for just anyone to play. Too bad really, i was looking forward to playing. Will keep looking for better play instructions.

Can you become the most famous wizard in the land?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wizards Wanted is a fast pace game where you enter a fantasy realm and to become a wizard seeking fame and glory by performing spells in villages around the gameboard. You’ll move your character around the board by spending pixie dust in order to travel to different locations. Upon completing these magical spells such as creating “Party Fog” or “Troll Removal” you gain the spell card which in gives you victory points, money and charms. There is a bit of set collection in this game as you’ll want to perform spells that match your character's own charm to gain victory point bonuses. As you progress along gaining fame and completing spells, you’ll want to visit the royal court to secretly reveal cards. If you meet the card’s requirement you gain a royal seal that will give you end game bonus points. Game play continues until the royal inspector is revealed from the spell deck then end game triggers. You’ll then score remaining victory points from spell sets collected and money earned. The wizards with the most fame points is the victor. Wizards Wanted is extremely fun and will keep you at the edge of your seat completing spells to become more famous than your opponents are. More serious tabletop gamers will enjoy the depth of strategy, planning and decision making used to rack up as many points as they can. Wizards Wanted appeals to all walks of gamers from casual family to serious tabletop players. Children will enjoy the fun and whimsical game play while more serious gamers will enjoy applying different strategies to win. As far as game quality goes Mattel knocked it out of the park. The vibrant artwork is phenomenal and they nailed the theme perfectly through visuals. The game board itself is extremely high sturdy with a nice feel to it. Tokens and cards are made from thick stock as that will last a long time. The sculpted character miniatures you play as are amazing and solidify the theme. What really stands out for us is the translucent hot pink pixie dust pieces. These have to be one of the coolest components pieces in the game. I’d like to commend the the designer for creating such an immersive game that’s fun for all types of gamers. Hats off to Mattel for producing it with a high bar for component quality. Wizards wanted has become a new family favorite and be replayed over and over, because no two games will be alike. I cannot recommends this game enough!

Confusing game!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband, 10 year old son, 13 year old daughter and myself attempted to play this game, Wizards Wanted the other day. The directions were very confusing and we spent over half an hour trying to figure out how to play the game. Everyone was very frustrated to the point we decided to just make up our own rules and go with it. Definitely wasn’t one of our favorite games and I’m not sure we will play it again. Very disappointing.

Beautifully designed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received it a few weeks ago, and have been playing it at least every other day with the kids. It took at least 3 times of play to get the hang of the game. But the kids loved the challenge of the game, and it helps it's a game with more then two players in that all four can play. It is beautifully designed to keeps them interested and entertained.

Great game with amazing artwork!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got this game at the perfect time, we received it just before hurricane Irma hit us. We are a family with 5 kids and this helped us make it through. It kept my children's attention for over an hour and they wanted to play it over and over. It actualy got them to put down there tablets and engage in some family fun. They were in a race to do the most spells and get the most fame and pixy dust to win the game. I would highly recommend this for family game night and also to give as a gift. Its a ton of fun and the design and artwork are amazing, great concept.

Beautiful but Very Confusing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wanted to give a fair review so tried playing a few different times. Unfortunately an attractive Game does not mean an interesting and fun game. It took so much time just trying to understand the directions several game players walked away. Play is not clear even though there are pages of visual directions. I cannot recommend this high priced game to anyone.

Interesting Game

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the game "Wizards Wanted" about 2 weeks ago, and was quite surprised to see how well it was packaged. My 11 year old son was pretty excited to play this new game. He thought the game was well organized. It took a bit of time to understand how the game was played as the instructions were a bit confusing; but once he figured out the rules of the game, he really enjoyed playing this game. He liked that the game was made interesting as well as challenging. I gave this game 4 stars out of 5 as I found the game a little difficult to understand. One needs to focus a lot to play the game, for the first few times.

Beautiful game, fun to play

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We received Wizards Wanted free to review right before Hurricane Irma hit. We spent the time without power setting up and playing the game. The board is very nice, along with the game pieces/tokens/gems. The look of everything is beautifully designed. The game is recommended for ages 10 and up and I don't suggest trying to play with younger children. It's too complicated and too many pieces for them. I felt a bit overwhelmed reading the rules and setup, but once you start playing it gets easier.

fun game with great format!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When we first got this, it was tricky to understand. It's a bit complicated in the beginning, but then it is a lot of fun. It's a strategic game, and once you understand how to play it's hard to stop playing. With lots of funny illustrations it is a fun game for parents and older kids.

Fantastic, quirky game

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great game. My twelve year old son and I both enjoyed it very much. This game states ages 10+, but I would certainly let a younger child play. The instructions are confusing, unless you read through them as you are playing through a game; trying to read them through beforehand is difficult, but if you read while playing it makes perfect sense. The game board is lovely. The cardboard pieces are thick and durable. The pixie dust jewels are lovely. I just wish they came in small resealable bags, especially the smallest ones, as they seem easy to lose. Play took us a little over an hour. I definitely recommend this game.

Good family fun

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This game is definitly for older kids and adults. My family and I have had a lot of fun playing this game. Once you read the rules and follow all the directions it will not be long and you will get the hang of what you have to do and can begin enjoying playing wizards wanted. Lots of game pieces and nice board to play on. This is a great game and makes you use your thinking skills. Good strategy game that takes about an hour or so to play. Definitely recommend.

Wonderfully imaginative game!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I ordered this game several weeks ago. It was such a pleasant surprise. When we opened the box and saw all the pieces and instructions I was concerned that it was going to be too difficult for a ten year old. However the instructions and playing boards artwork and diagrams included made it easy to figure out. I loved how the game sparked the kids imagination. It was overall a very entertaining game for them.
