A: They're thicker than pantyhose but much thinner than athletic socks or bulky "boot socks." I think they're the perfect weight- they keep my lower legs warm outside, but aren't too hot to wear all day.

Q: My wife wears leg braces (AFO's) that reach to just below the knee so she has to wear long socks at all times. Would these socks be long enough? Also, would they be too thick/hot in summer?

The socks are not thick, but they were thicker than expected. I ordered online and picked up at the store. They feel like a cotton nylon blend. I thought they would be more nylon (like tights/panty hose). I like this material better. Like a hybrid of normal socks and tights. There was a small snag in them when I picked them up but I needed them asap so did not return or exchange. I wore them once for several hours to a party. I was dancing and being active and they stayed put and didn't snag. I'm 5'7 and have slightly muscular legs. Average sized calfs and these fit perfectly. Right below the knee. They have a little stretch to them.
