The X‑ACTO Buzz Battery Powered Pencil Sharpener is designed specifically for standard wood‑cased pencils. It is not recommended for crayons. Crayons are softer and can clog or damage the sharpening mechanism, which may prevent the unit from working properly.
For shaping crayons, a manual crayon sharpener would be a better option.

Worst pencil sharpener ever
Worst pencil sharpener ever. It doesn't sharpen them, it ruins them. The battery installation was unclear, which should tell you something. That should be the easy part, just putting the batteries in. The motor turns so fast it just chops up pencils. The shaving compartment is badly designed, small, and hard to put back. Waste of plastic.

DOESN'T WORK
sharpener doesn't work at all! I put brand new batteries in (which by the way battery lid is very hard to put back on) i triple checked that they were in the right direction and it still didnt work. I checked that the sharpener lid was on all the way but still nothing. Don't waste your money!

Looks good but ate up my pencils
This sharpener ate up my pencils. Lead always broken. Was difficult to control. Seems to eat up batteries super fast and batteries are a pain to put in. The battery lid doesn’t snap in easily. Also difficult to empty. Shavings flew everywhere when I tried to open it. I don’t like it at all. I’m disappointed. I gave 3 stars for quality because it seems sturdy and looks like good materials. But the design isn’t working for me technically.

Bought this for my grade schooler. I tested it out before I gave it to him and it was hard to take off the plastic to empty and put it back on. And the plastic edges are so sharp I cut myself on it. Wouldn’t recommend at all

This item quite possibly the worst thing I've ever used. Not only does it just not work, when you install the batteries the contacts try to shave the cover off some of the batteries. It's all cheap plastic garbage hijacking the Xacto brand name. Do not buy.
