I bought it on Dec 12th,2022, As of today I have not been able to get it to work. I am an old guy not familiar with computers. What upsets me most is the rep from Target told me I could use most of my games from an original X Box, and of course after getting it home, I found out there is no receptacle for the old discs. No I am not happy with my purchase. I really just want to get it plugged in right so I can amuse myself on off days. The Geek squad wouldn't come out so I assume it is a normally for a teenage an easy set up. Bill

Poor storage and "meh" performance

Buying the Xbox Series S two months ago was my worst gaming purchase. I prefer Xbox controllers and use them on my PC, which is why I got the console. THE BAD: Controller input lag and lack of storage.... Microsoft has been made aware of controller input lag for about a year and apparently has yet to resolve the issue..... Input lag means the system doesn't always register your movements on controllers or is slow to operate/move. For games like Fortnite and Apex Legends, it's almost unplayable, or at the very least, it makes gameplay extremely frustrating. Although the system boasts 512 GB, only 360 GB can be used for games and storage. With most major RPG /eSports games being 60-120 GB each, the console can only store 4-6 large file games at a time. It also needs a high frame-rate monitor or 4K television to get more than 30-60 fps. I own all 3 major gaming consoles and this one ranks very last.

Very underrated! Yea it’s not as powerful as the Series X or PS5 but the value is unmatched. Same next gen features as the Series X, very affordable, graphics are great, and you can’t go wrong with game pass ultimate.

I’ve had my series s for a little over a year at this point and have been loving it! It plays games really well and I haven’t had many problems with it. I would absolutely suggest getting an external hard drive because you only have a little over 300 gb when it’s fully set up. I would also suggest getting gamepass ultimate just because you’re already playing digital games, so why not get all the “Xbox” ones right off the bat?

Just get an Xbox One X with an SSD

This is a good quiet console, but it's just an Xbox One S on steroids, all backwards compatible games are base Xbox One games. With no enhancements at all, hence the cheap price. It's capped at a very poor resolution of 1440p, but rarely hits it (mostly 1080p), and drops as low as 512p which is just unacceptable for a console in 2022 imo. The One X (while slightly more expensive) runs many games at Native 4K, some at (60fps), has a 4K player, and is just a better all around deal. Unless you get the Series X which is very hard to find. And I still can't justify the new consoles as there are few to no new games to take advantage of the new hardware. So for a few games with framerate boosts mostly for old games. it's just not worth it. Wait until REAL NEW IP's hit in the next few years. By that time they'll have a new console out anyway.

My son had the original Xbox and it was time for an upgrade. So far all is well and he is enjoying it. 4 stars because he cannot use his external hard drive with it. You apparently have to use a special one that of course isn’t cheap.
