Q: This product was supposed to come with free game pass for 24 months. How do we access the game pass?

submitted by Tracey - 3 years ago
  • A: Thanks for asking! Xbox Series S comes with 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate when purchased through Xbox All Access. As you set up your new console, you’ll be prompted to redeem the Digital Direct offers that come with it (which includes your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership). If you decide not to redeem them then, the offers remain on the console until they’re redeemed. If you do not see an option to redeem your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate through initial setup and/or through the Settings app, contact Citizens Pay at www.service.citizenspay.com. They’ll need to verify your Xbox All Access account and determine next steps.

Regretful purchase

The constant updates that the console forces you to do it absurd. I don’t play online, why must I constantly update it? I regret purchasing this antiquated brick and wish I could get my money back. I truly hate this console and miss my PlayStation.

Purchased one of these less than x1 year ago. The USB ports are already becoming damaged. For starters, there is only ONE on the front, instead of two. (Why?) Secondly, the ones in back seem to either be more cheaply made, or come apart much more easy, since you're constantly having to plug in, and re-plug in controllers, or any other kind of USB device. (I thought I had an issue w/ my Seagate drive, since it never seemed to connect. I switched ports and now it works just fine. Speaking of though, don't you dare even nudge or bump the cord, as it will come off, and cut your game halfway through.) Microsoft itself also is as of writing this, bumping up, yet again, the cost of their XBox Live services, to $20/month. They are treating having access to some crappy, 3rd party the same as if you had say, a streaming service, that gave you thousands of hours of viewing content. Absolultely wretched treatment by one of the world's largest companies, to continue to try to bleed customers like a stone. Would never recommend anyone purchase this, or any console from them, ever.

Bought this as a bundle that was supposed to come with a 3 month ultimate game pass. Almost 2 hours later and showing them the pictures where it stated the game pass came with bundle - Target said they couldn’t do anything. Likely return and get from another store with same promo where they’ll uphold their advertising.

I’ve had this since December 2018 (almost 5 years at this point) and it still works good as new. I’m not as much of a gamer as I used to be, so it’s mainly used for casual gaming and streaming services. It still loads up quick and has great quality. I’d definitely recommend for anyone that would use it similarly.

I had my series s for 14 months and all of a sudden it stopped powering on. It’s ventilated, no dust build up, and I did an hour worth of troubleshooting from the Xbox website. After some online research it turns out this is a pretty common issue similar to the good ole red rings of death back in the day. I called Microsoft who wouldn’t let me talk to a real person I had to file a report with the BBB and Microsoft finally had a real person (I assume) contact me via email. Well Mr. Larry told me to pound sand, he responded to my email once calling me by a different name and in another email said he would replace my series x for a price… we had discussed my series s in multiple emails. Finally it came down to they offer me an out of warranty repair for $250. A new one is $300! Poor quality build and even worse customer service. I recommend buying a PlayStation.

I purchased this console during the Black Friday sale last thanksgiving. I love the console itself but was extremely disappointed in the controller that came with the console. I've had four or five regular controllers for my non next gen console that took beatings like slamming it into the ground or even me hitting it aggressively with my hand that still took less damage and worked way longer than the newest next gen controller. the new controller has been through far less strain or intensity and in the short stent of time has fallen off my bed a of times which now has cracked the face of the controller and caused an stick drift that makes the controller barely useable. Great product except for the cheaply made controller

Does not support Kinect!!!

Chris - 2 years ago
I have had a Kinect for years and I would play just dance all the time, and I finally decided to upgrade my console just to find out I can no longer play just dance with body tracking. There is no work around or bypass so I will never be able to play my favorite game like I used to. And they won't make a Kinect v3 so the only way to play it would to purchase my old Xbox back again. At least make an adapter or something. The series X does not as well.

I bought it on Dec 12th,2022, As of today I have not been able to get it to work. I am an old guy not familiar with computers. What upsets me most is the rep from Target told me I could use most of my games from an original X Box, and of course after getting it home, I found out there is no receptacle for the old discs. No I am not happy with my purchase. I really just want to get it plugged in right so I can amuse myself on off days. The Geek squad wouldn't come out so I assume it is a normally for a teenage an easy set up. Bill

Poor storage and "meh" performance

2 out of 5 stars
Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend
Amy - 2 years ago
Buying the Xbox Series S two months ago was my worst gaming purchase. I prefer Xbox controllers and use them on my PC, which is why I got the console. THE BAD: Controller input lag and lack of storage.... Microsoft has been made aware of controller input lag for about a year and apparently has yet to resolve the issue..... Input lag means the system doesn't always register your movements on controllers or is slow to operate/move. For games like Fortnite and Apex Legends, it's almost unplayable, or at the very least, it makes gameplay extremely frustrating. Although the system boasts 512 GB, only 360 GB can be used for games and storage. With most major RPG /eSports games being 60-120 GB each, the console can only store 4-6 large file games at a time. It also needs a high frame-rate monitor or 4K television to get more than 30-60 fps. I own all 3 major gaming consoles and this one ranks very last.
