Sometimes I have received onions that were soft and discolored. The store in Machesney Park definitely has issues with poor quality fresh produce. Don't recommend this store for produce.

Great for Cooking

I buy these regularly because I honestly prefer yellow onions over red onions for a lot of cooking. The flavor is milder and slightly sweeter, which works really well whether you’re sautéing, roasting, or using them raw. They’ve been consistently fresh when I’ve picked them up, with good firmness and no soft spots. I’ve also used them for the viral onion “chips” recipes going around, and they worked perfectly because the natural sweetness really comes through when cooked. What I liked: • Mild, slightly sweet flavor • Versatile for cooking or raw use • Good freshness and quality • Works great for roasted or air-fried recipes • Nice size for multiple meals Things to know: • Because they’re sweeter, they caramelize fast Overall, this is one of those staple ingredients I keep coming back to.
