Q: Do you need to have this near a window to vent?

A: Yes because it requires the use of a hose. I'm not sure exactly how long the hose length is, but I would estimate about yard and a half?? The manual does say that the unit needs to be 20in from walls

Excellent Portable Air Conditioner
We were unsure about purchasing this portable air conditioner. It has been used quite often due to our heat waves this summer and does an excellent job of cooling and making the room drier. And it is quieter than others we have tried. We are happy with this!

No issues so far
I’ve been using it everyday for 2 weeks and it hasn’t skipped a beat. . It’s not the quietest A/C unit but for the price you can’t beat it. Super simple to set up. If you like all little noise when you sleep this would be perfect for you!

Easy to set up and use
Absolutely wonderful device for any man whose wife MIGHT be going through menopause. It does a great job keeping our room nice and cool when wife gets the hot flashes I have the exhaust vented through a back window. Delivery was nice and easy.

Buyer Beware
This is a horrible unit. It is supposed to be 10,000 BTU but doesn’t cool and blow like that. I have an 8,000 BTU one and it works circles around this one. I got the higher BTU for a larger space, but does not help. Also, you cannot run the dehumidifier along with the air. Huge negative point. Will be returning ASAP!

Works great though loud
Was unsure about how well this would work since it was in sale and had no reviews, but I'm glad I purchased because it has dramatically cooled our open living room/kitchen. It is rather loud (imagine having a white noise machine to a high setting) but you get used to it eventually. The supplies to set up on your window do not come with strips to secure the sides/window openings so you would have to buy that yourself or figure out how to ensure that air doesn't seep from the sides or the top of the window.
