Q: The label does not show how much elemental zinc is in each caplet. The amount of elemental zinc is different from the "amount per serving" shown on the label. Please ask the laboratory that manufacturers this how it is formulated.

submitted by Cathi - 3 years ago
  • A: Hello Each tablet contains 50 mg of elemental zinc.. The 50 mg zinc product was developed as zinc gluconate and is concluded to be safe according to published trade associations. The US Food and Nutrition Board (FNB) and the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) support the safety of the 50 mg Zinc product. 13% or 385 mg of zinc gluconate provides 50 mg of elemental zinc Hope this helps!

  • A: In the ingredients it states Zinc Gluconate as the compounds form. As standard, Zinc Gluconate contains 14% pure Elemental Zinc, so one 50mg tablet would yield 7mg.

I am not too sure if these actually help my immune system but I’d like to believe that they actually do. They are a small and easy pill to take so I don’t mind adding it to my routine when I start to feel run down.

It has an awful smell to it the bottle had such a bad smell I tried to let it air out for a week & it just did not go away. No medication bottle should have a scent to it. It was so strong too.

The recommended dose is more than the recommended amount of zinc you should consume in a day. It made me super sick, couldn’t stop throwing up, I finally went to the doctor and found out I had zinc poisoning due to the dosage.

I guess shame on me for not doing research to discover that 50 mg of zinc is way too much. I had an issue recently after taking zinc. It gave me some stomach pains that lasted half a day. I didn’t associate it with that. But today I took it again and had bad nausea and vomiting. Finally figured out it’s because I took this supplement.

I bought these to try and help with my acne. They didn’t work. I fact I was experiencing very bad stomach aches and couldn’t figure out why, until I learned that the dosage in these is more than you should be taking. I had to stop taking them cause they were doing more harm than good to my body.

Ignore negative reviews, they didn’t do their research. 50mg of zinc gluconate equals 7mg of elemental zinc which is what is what is calculated for the recommended dosing. So this isn’t even close to the 40mg max/day. I’ve used these for a few months now after getting off of birth control and it’s helped level my hormones, helped clear my acne, and just feel so much better. Never got sick or nauseous, I take right before bed. Highly recommend!

I literally got blood work done because I’ve been nauseous to the point of dry heaving daily since taking these. They’re 10mg over the recommended dosage. I took one two days ago and still feel awful. Not worth it.

These gave me horrible nausea and vomiting, even when I took them with food and water. 50 mg is literally over the safe recommended daily limit of zinc. They were totally fine when I started breaking them in half though.

This made me so sick every single time I took it. Didn’t matter time of day or amount of food taken with, it made me feel so gross I could hardly leave my bed. The nature made brand zinc is far superior.
