Q: The label does not show how much elemental zinc is in each caplet. The amount of elemental zinc is different from the "amount per serving" shown on the label. Please ask the laboratory that manufacturers this how it is formulated.

submitted by Cathi - 2 years ago
  • A: Hello Each tablet contains 50 mg of elemental zinc.. The 50 mg zinc product was developed as zinc gluconate and is concluded to be safe according to published trade associations. The US Food and Nutrition Board (FNB) and the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) support the safety of the 50 mg Zinc product. 13% or 385 mg of zinc gluconate provides 50 mg of elemental zinc Hope this helps!

  • A: In the ingredients it states Zinc Gluconate as the compounds form. As standard, Zinc Gluconate contains 14% pure Elemental Zinc, so one 50mg tablet would yield 7mg.

Q: Is there a place with the list of other ingredients?

submitted by jesselun - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi jesselun - Thanks for browsing Target.com for your supplements. The list of ingredients is listed on each bottle and you're able to view it in the second photo here on this page. Have a great day! - Melissa

Really like how these are smooth coated; makes them easy to swallow instead of instantly dissolving in your mouth like other brands in the green bottle ;) Also these are much more affordable to.

Took this zinc and felt very sick about 10 minutes after. Then vomited roughly 30 minutes after. I read online that zinc supplements should not exceed 40mg or else they can make you feel sick. I think this isn’t formulated well and would not recommend it.

Don't take this. I couldn't understand when I would take some supplements feeling like I was getting a cold, that I would get terrible, terrible indigestion, stomach ache. I thought it was the vitamin C. But no, it is this! Whatever form this is or whatever the problem is, do not take it.

Horribly sick all day!! I took one pill this morning, unaware of the side effects, and I was violently ill within the hour. I have had severe stomach pain and been sick off and on all day from this. I've read the reviews that this isn't pure zinc etc, and I understand that, but if it's causing enough people problems that they should cut it in half, then maybe the company that produces this should reevaluate their dosage. This is awful. I will be returning the product as soon as I'm able to make it to the store again.

I would disregard the 1 star reviews. Zinc supplements are known to cause nausea if you don’t take them with food. Also, these aren’t an overdose. 50mg of zinc gluconate equates to around 7mg of elemental zinc. I haven’t had any nausea. These are a great value. Thanks Target!

Dosage too high

1 out of 5 stars
Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend
CN - 8 months ago
As other reviewers mentioned, 50mg is ABOVE what The National Institutes of Health considers to be the upper limit daily dose of zinc for adults (40mg), and actually 8-10mg is what's typically recommended. I took one per day for 2 days (with food & water), and have been sick with nausea, diarrhea, and even vomiting for 2 days now. Cut these in half, or buy a lower dose!

ALL Zinc supplements are KNOWN to possibly cause naseua when you don't take it with a full glass or two of water and some food. Also, higher doses of zinc can contribute to naseua too. Again, all of these lame 1 star reviews should NOT be here, as they don't represent Target's Zinc supplement. The value here is great for these.
