ZWILLING Four Star Chef's Knife

Recently broke my six inch knife and needed a replacement. I've had a Zwilling set for 20 years and was super happy to get this. Good balance and sharp as all get out. Great knife.

Bought the 10" Four Star Chef's Knife in 1992 or 93. Used it pretty much every day since. Certainly have used it more than once per week since. It is my preferred knife of the 4 Zwillings I own. I use it for every kitchen task. In the 32 +/- years of use these are the simplest of my observations; 1. It takes a good edge when sharpened. 2. The handle can become a little slick when wet and will then twist in my hand due to the "round" plastic handle. 3. The weight and balance of the knife feels very good to me every time I pick it up and use it. 4. It is hard to sharpen, it takes a lot of work running it through the sharpener to put an edge back on it but it holds that edge well for a satisfactory length of use. I would buy it again, but only if the Zwilling Pro knives were no longer available. This knife, after 32 years of use, will most likely last me the rest of my life so even though it was very expensive when I bought it in 1992 it has turned out to be an excellent investment.

My grandparents gave my parents a version of this knife in 1983. It was a staple in our kitchen growing up and now I’m teaching my son to cook with it. This knife has lasted 40 years and as I grew old enough to stock my own kitchen I’ve always preferred the durability, weight and balance of my Henkle.

Fully satisfied with sharpness and useful for my daily cooking.

The length of the knife gives you the ability to chop more at once. It’s easy to hold and not awkward at all. I would HIGHLY recommend purchasing this knife. At long last I have a knife with a wide grip which is perfect for my aging hands. It is so very comfortable. The blade is just the right length for many processes. And, it is incredibly sharp! I have used it everyday since it arrived. This is my favorite knife ever, and I have many.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this knife as a Christmas gift in 2021 after repeatedly badgering my father for a duplicate of his chef's knife. In something of a mix up, I got what appears to be the "economical" version of his knife, complete with a rigid plastic handle. While this knife is a tad less evenly weighted than the knife I was after (which I think is a letter or two off in in the model number), it's brilliantly sharp and still a good quality chef's knife for a beginner or a new homeowner - anything in that genre. Don't accidentally shave your finger pad off on first use like I did!
