Smart telescopes combine smartphone-guided star recognition and app-generated lists of currently visible objects with optics and integrated imaging, so you can locate, center, and capture images of nebulae and galaxies.

The telescope app analyzes visible star patterns, generates a list of nearby targets, then shows on-screen directions (for example arrows) to point the scope. When alignment is correct a bullseye indicator confirms the target is centered in the eyepiece or camera.

Power approaches vary by model: some electronics use small button cells (CR2032), others include an optional or built-in rechargeable battery, and many bundles include a portable 5000 mAh 5V DC power bank. Kits often also include a red flashlight for night use.

Listed objective sizes range from about 50 mm up to 114 mm, with quoted magnifications commonly spanning roughly 33× to 269× depending on eyepieces and accessories used.

Most smart telescopes use altazimuth-style tripod mounts and offer slow-motion adjustments or dual-axis slow-motion controls for fine pointing and to follow targets as they drift.
