My toy poodle loves everything but the carrots. I also wish the pieces were a bit larger. When the bag is almost empty the food is in very small pieces with lots of carrots left over. Maybe less carrots also

I had to return this a bunch of times thought it was just bad. Found out they changed the reciepe. Tried to contact Fresh Pet, horrible customer service...My dogs won't eat it and it smells rancid and smokey. Don't fix something that isn't broken! Guess we will be looking for a new food...

Hi Sophia, we're sorry to hear that your pups no longer enjoy our recipe. We recently added rosemary to our shredded recipes to help enhance the flavor and also made some updates to improve the smell and shelf life, so you may notice some 'smokier' notes, reminiscent of a cozy campfire or herbed meats. Your feedback is very important to us and will be shared with our Quality Assurance team. We do offer a wide variety of recipes that are rosemary-free. Please visit https://www.freshpet.com/ to explore our other recipe options. Feel free to contact us at 1-866-789-3737 and mention the following reference number: 574838 for further assistance. We're always here to help. -Abbie

Why did you change this recipe. We have been using your food for 6 years and just recently noticed a Smokey rancid smell to the food we were feeding our dogs which they will not eat. After buying and returning multiple bags because it looked and smelled bad I went onto your website and realized you changed your recipe. Well it’s absolutely awful. You’ve lost a customer and now I’m in search of a new food for both my senior dogs. Don’t fix what’s not broken! Go back to the old recipe!!

The last few bags we bought have a smell that seems like the food has been smoked. My dogs do not like the strong smell. They are reluctant to eat it. I have to remove carrots because both dogs throw them up now. They are not digestible. Now his smokiness is not appealing. I rinse the food with hot water to remove some of the smell. If this keeps up I will have to change brands. The original recipe was good. You need to reduce the carrots not increase them. Lose the smokiness.

I don't know what you did to the recipe, but I don't like the change and neither do my dogs. I've been buying this for years, and it always smelled good, but now it almost smells rotten. I returned the first couple I bought because I thought they were spoiled until I searched online and seen that you changed the recipe. Please go back to the way it was so I can continue buying it.

Hi there, thank you for reaching out. All Freshpet recipes are labeled with a sell-by date on the packaging. You can safely store our recipes in your refrigerator unopened until that date. Once opened, the recipe should be used within 7 days, as it is gently cooked and contains fresh meat without preservatives. Always keep our recipes refrigerated and treat them the same way you treat your fresh meats. -Abbie

I have been feeding my dog this recipe for years. So here’s a question for you FreshPet—why fix what ain’t broken? This now smells like smoke and is dark. My dog does not like it. I am so bummed out! It used to smell like human fresh food. It now smells like so many other dog foods. Which my dog won’t eat. ☹️
Should be in a smaller bag

It’s OK. It burns my skin to touch it and then whenever my dogs lick me it burns. (I don’t have any known allergies.) My dogs tolerated it, but will only eat it with cheese on top. The bag is way too big to only last for seven days. Wish it came with two sealed bags or smaller size.

Hi there, thanks for sharing your feedback. Since our Freshpet fresh from the kitchen home-cooked recipe is a bit too much for your dogs to finish within 7 days, you can feel free to freeze it in pre-portioned daily servings upon opening. When you're ready to use it, just thaw a portion overnight in the fridge for the next day's feeding. Keep in mind that the texture and moisture may change slightly after freezing, but the nutritional value stays the same. Additionally, we offer a variety of recipes, in various sizes ranging from 1 lb. to 6 lb., depending on the recipe. Feel free to visit our website, https://www.freshpet.com/products to explore our different options. -Vina

My dog Duncan, is 15 and is a very picky eater. I started him on freshpet a couple of weeks ago, and have seen a marked improvement in him. He is more alert and is slowing gaining weight. He eats the food on his own where as before I had to hand feed him. This will be the only food he'll eat.

My vet has recommended not to feed my dog a pure protein diet. Dogs need some fiber to stay healthy and the recommended amount is between 2-4%. This has 1%. Shame on me for trusting you to follow recommended guidelines. I only hope that I have not messed up my dog’s long term health by feeding him this food
