Flimsy, **do not buy**. After putting it together it looked very dangerous with light wind, and I could not return it because my 30 days return date had passed.

Roof collects water, with no drainage space. Don’t know if the roof is damaged. Possibly damaging the hooks that hold the roof. Would not purchase again.

It looks very nice but was a pain to put together. The directions were not good and a lot of putting together and taking apart.

Rods are too short to reach the other side not happy

Got this during a supposed mark-down at $299. It comes packaged in a very compact way, so yes, there are many parts, but the directions was mostly user-friendly. It is best for a 2 person assembly. My husband 6'2" and I 5'5" assembled it together. We used the instruction manual and the Target product photos to make sure it was being put together correctly. When we bought it there weren't any reviews but still gave it a chance. It is easy to give this a poor rating if you lack or are not savvy with tools, have no help and/or have little patience for items with multiple parts, but it truly is a decent pergola. Our backyard gets a lot of wind and it seems to be holding up well. We screwed it into wooden blocks into the ground around a platform instead of on it because I didn't want it to be too high with the winds we often get. The top coverage provides a nice shade from the sun, it has 2 velcro straps on one side and 2 clamps to hold the rods for the other side. Perhaps because it's very windy in my backyard it unclips from the rod clamps, so I use the fabric pull strap to hook it onto a top beam so the tarp fabric doesn't slide across to one half and stays with full coverage. I wish it had velcro straps on both sides to hold the rods more secure instead of the clips. The 2 part rod assembly could also use improvement as during initial pushing to the loops to meet in the center it uncouples if 2 people aren't holding it, I held it at the middle and opposite end while hubs put in the screws to secure it for each side. (Those components are my only gripe). (1 star removed since the 2 part rod/ rod clips and the additional velcro straps are areas of improvement) the main poles and beams aren't too bad to assemble, they're not very heavy (it's an aluminum type metal painted to look like wood, not heavy steel, but durable) with hard-plastic black end/top caps and screw covers. All the parts came together nicely using a small drill to tighten screws quickly. It can be done in 1-2hrs breaks included. Overall we're happy with the purchase.
