About the Author



Katsushika Hokusai was born in 1760 in Edo (now Tokyo). Over his long career, he created more than 30,000 works of art, ranging from woodblock prints to paintings, sketches and book illustrations. Although he died in 1849 his legacy endures, having influenced countless artists, including many of the great European Impressionists.
