Apareció publicado inicialmente en Chicago (Illinois, Estados Unidos) en diciembre de 1908, firmado por tres iniciados anónimos. Sin embargo, el consenso común afirma que el verdadero autor de la obra fue William Walker Atkinson, pionero del movimiento Nuevo Pensamiento.
