Deep fryer
I purchased the Hamilton Beach deep fryer expecting a safe and reliable appliance, but it turned out to be a serious fire hazard. After only a few uses, the unit began smoking heavily during preheating—well before it reached the proper temperature. The smoke was so intense it set off my smoke detectors and filled the kitchen within minutes. What’s worse, I noticed the heating element glowing red-hot and the plastic exterior becoming alarmingly warm. I immediately unplugged it and moved it outside, fearing it was about to catch fire. After cooling down, I checked for any user error, oil level issues, or blockages—none were present. This was purely a malfunction of the device. I’m extremely disappointed and concerned about the lack of safety mechanisms in this product. A kitchen appliance should never pose this level of risk. I strongly advise anyone considering this fryer to look elsewhere—this could have ended in disaster.

I purchased this deep fryer recently as my old one broke. Pros: heats up fast and lights up when desired temp is reached, nice size and having 3 baskets could be useful. Easy to clean as the oil pan is removable from base. Cons: Outside of fryer gets very hot to the touch, emits a lot of steam when cooking (maybe I just need a filter), you cannot store with the lid on unless you submerge the basket into the oil

Works well for the price
I bought this as a gift for someone else. Here's what the recipient says: "I've done up 2 pounds of Fries, and Tater Tots with it. So far, it seems to do a good job frying. Just need to adjust the frying times somewhat, since it basically is heating a gallon of oil. Thus, the oil stays hot longer. Clean up has been fairly simple. Some Dawn, hot water, and a sponge. But I'm probably going to try putting the baskets, and fry tub in the dishwasher. Because the Fry Tub, and Baskets are starting to get an oily film of on them. One thing that it doesn't do, is let you lift the baskets out of the oil, with the cover in place, like the old fryer. Thus, you didn't get hot oil splatter."

Dislike. This was a big waste of money. Every time we go to use it it heats up but after you put your food it in it decides not to cook and shuts down. I’ve wasted so much time, energy, food, space in my cupboard and hopes to eat trying to use this piece of junk. It currently says sold out thank god bc no one else needs to waste their money.

I can only give this item 3 stars it’s a nice size fryer fast shipping however my fryer arrived today and it’s all scratched up I literally just opened it less then 10min ago and it has a few scratches chips in the front haven’t used it yet looking forward to it just a little disappointed to see the damage and it’s brand new can’t rate use of item haven’t used it yet easy to clean as I clean all items before using for the first time easy to assemble as well
