A: Push in the little button and pull up on the seat. Key is to pull up on the seat as opposed to pushing on the legs.

Use a pen to push the silver button to close the stool
Cheap temp option when I need additional seating around kitchen counter top island. I had trouble closing it like everyone at first. I use a pen to push the silver button on the bottom of the seat and fold the stool. Easy. Not the best quality and probably not so great for everyday use for long periods of time.
