Yes the lens does work. Yes I think Target should ship a camera lens in something more secure than a plastic bag and the little box the lens comes in. The lens box was open when I opened the bag. But bottom line the lens is fine and works.

Bad Chromatic Abberation
The lens gets the job done at a cheap price point. The sharpness isn't great at higher zoom, and there's some really bad pink/green chromatic aberration you will get because of the bad autofocus. The autofocus is probably some of the worst you get from a cannon lens. I would highly recommend investing in a better lens if you looking for better quality. Images are taken with this lens on a Canon Rebel T7 DSLR

"It gets the job done" And it does, sometimes...
Have used this lens for Aviation photography for almost 2 years now, i understand this is a starter lens, usually on a starter camera, (T7) but this lens definitely has some problems. Zooming past 150-200 mm cooks the sharpness, but after mastering the lens, it can be a manageable loose cannon, getting sharper images after figuring out camera settings and prime focal lengths. Going from this lens to the EF 100-400, is a whole different experience. The 75-300 is a decent starter lens and i won't discredit it, it has got me some of my best photos, (somehow) but in conclusion, there are definitely better lenses out there. Cheers.

The worst autofocus lens ever manufactured
The only canon product i've ever been disappointed with. I've owned this lens for about 12 years now, it's about as sharp as a balloon. Soft focus galore on every single shot. When I sold my T3 (which this lens came with) I refused to sell this lens to the buyer, as this lens almost made me quit photography. I was convinced I didnt know what I was doing, however, when I purchased an L series lens suddenly my results became useable. I was able to definitively determine that this lens was the cause of my poorly focused images.

Canon
The auto focus would not focus on its own. Hard to trouble shoot with minimal information provided.

Great gift for a camera beginner
I got this as a gift from my Grandpa and I love it so far. Given me some really great shots, a little less zoom than I need for a lot of my shots but that's not Canon's fault.

It'll be nice for game shots on the Serengeti
This is really nice lens. It is easy to mount on the camera, and to focus quickly and accurately.

My Favorite Lens
This is a great budget lens. Pictures are amazingly clear and sharp in both manual and auto focus. I use it both indoor and outdoor and mostly for sports photography - my kids do swim and hockey.

Great Bang for the Buck
I bought this to replace a 19 year old similar lens from another manufacturer that finally began having intermittent communication issues with the camera. The new lens is smaller, lighter and focuses much faster than the old one. It's also a lot quieter when focusing. A big plus is that it uses filters the same diameter as two other lenses I already use, making the load I have to carry around a lot lighter.

Disappointing zoom feature
I bought this lens for my EOS Rebel T7 about 1 month ago and it does not have the zoom feature that I was hoping for. My old Canon SX700 HS did a much greater job at zooming in on the moon. Unfortunately, I dropped my T7 and ruined the lens and I can no longer buy a new one.

Buy an adpater for certain models
This is perfectly good, except PLEASE get an adapter for EOS-M for this! I got this for my birthday present and couldn’t attach it immediately.

EF-75-300mm Lens review
Great lens! I've gotten closeup shots of bees on flowers from feet away that were almost as good as a macro. Good enough range for sports, or wildlife too

Good lens
I got this lens for my daughter to help with her photography skills. She loves it. The pictures she gets with it are what she is looking for.

Don’t listen to the 13 year old bad reviews!!.
The reviews for this lens are really funny especially the older ones. I’m using this with a Neewer EF- to RF adaptor on a Canon R10 and I’m getting some amazing photos with this lens. It does suffer slightly in low light due to the slow speed. However so does my R10. For the price and the build quality and the fact the images you get look great make this a 5 star lens imho. Definitely a great piece of kit to learn with as well.

This lens is not cavier, but its definitely not powdered eggs.
I bought this lens 6 weeks ago and have been very impressed with it thus far. The only reason I didn't give it a five star rating is I don't believe it was intended to be a five star telephoto lens. Light weight, easy to use, and taking impressive shots of birds in flight I have no complaints. If this lens can freeze a hummingbird's wings in flight and make a sharp clear portrait of it then I got my money's worth. And indeed, I got my money's worth. I'm glad I got it added to my glass.
