Nice table. Overall pleased. Chairs weren't fun to put together. Had to purchase 2 additional screws -- one came without threads and one was completely bent. Delivery company calls and emails A LOT to confirm delivery. They were nice enough to deliver inside despite the zillion automated calls that said they would only deliver to the threshold of the house. Overall happy with this purchase.
Not bad for the price

I like this set, but I honestly can't give it 5 stars. For the money, yea it's good. But there are assembly issues, the chairs are hard to get level. [...]There are 'red streaks" on it, which is a style not a quality issue in my mind. the table top has scratched rather easily, but the finish is pretty good. [...]
BEAUTIFUL SET! AMAZING PRICE!! Thank you Target!

I searched high and low and did a lot of research before purchasing this dining set. I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE! The set is EXACTLY what I was hoping for! Shipped quickly, easy to put together, BEAUTIFUL! :))) I read posts about 'red streaks' on the chair legs...I did not notice that however, I know with black furniture there is some 'red steaking' effects that are very minimal and subdude for effect of more than just 'back paint'......*EVER SO HAPPY*
easy assembly and nice looking table

I rated this table 5 stars based on the price. I got this table because I needed a small table for the next 5-7 years and didn't want to pay a lot of money for one that I wouldn't keep long. If you are thinking about not getting this table because you have read all the bad reviews(like me) you are going to have to buy the table and judge yourself. I disagreed with everything I read. I read that the assembly was terribly hard and that the chairs were shakey and red spots on the bench...The assembly is EXTREMELY EASY. It took me 1 hour to put everything together by myself with my kids running around (and I'm a stay at home mom with 3 kids all age 3 and under!), I don't have any red streaks in my bench and my floors are old and uneven so my chairs rock slightly. But remember how much you are paying for this table. The table is a nice size, the chairs aren't too short, etc... It is worth your money! The only problem I had is that one of my chairs are missing the coils in the pre-drilled holes and I'm gonna have to send it back, but other than that everything is great! I recommend this table!
Perfect!

Received the 4 boxes yesterday, one for the table, one was the bench and the last two had 2 chairs in each box. Packages were well put together, no damage. The table is amazing! Solid wood, beautiful finish. Took about 2 hours to put together, but was very easy... basically screw on the legs. The chairs took most of the time. But, everything looks great! I would highly recommend this set.

I do not own this item - yet. I love the looks of it and I can deal with the difficult assembly described in some of the reviews. However , the shipping charges are way too steep ($.... to Southern California)! That is more than half the price. Otherwise I'd buy it in a minute. I could not find it in the two stores near me, and the store service desk said they can not special order it for store pickup. So I wait. maybe Target will offer free shipping or store pickup some day.
Completely Disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Received this order today and the table was the wrong table or at least the legs weren't spray painted. After debating to call and do a replacement order we discovered that one of the joints didn't have screws in it they had been stripped out! Finally we decided to return the set completely and go to a store nearby and spend the extra $... on a set that I know that is the right one that I picked out!
Not good quality

I received this dining set yesterday and we have encountered several problems. First, the tables legs have scratches on them and one leg looked as if it has been cracked and glued back together. After putting the table together it was wobbly and we realized that one of the legs was shorter than all the others. My husband had to drill new holes in the bench in order to put it together and we are going to have to go buy bolts in order to put the chairs together because the ones they sent do not fit. The set looks nice, but the quality is very poor. I am very disappointed. I would not recommend buying this set to anyone.

I am reluctant to give this item 3 stars, but I am granting Target a little faith based on my past experience with them. The overall quality of the set was somewhat lower that what I had hoped for. The chairs seem slightly frail, and the table arrived with a glaring defect in the finish. There were several areas in the stain where it was blatantly obvious that something had been placed on the table's surface prior to the stain having been fully dried. These areas simply can not be ignored as they taint the entire look of the table's surface. I am returning the table, hoping that it's replacement is much more visually acceptable. I did not expect a great deal at the price I paid [...], however [a department store] had an almost identical set on sale for the same price - and it's contruction seemed much sturdier. The table legs were made of much thicker diameter wood, but the chairs had a simpler, less desirable look. Assembly of the chairs was not as complicated for me as others complained of - all the parts fit together well. But some of the wood screws used for the wooden dowels became stripped rather easily. If the replacement unit arrives quickly, and in an acceptable condition, I might give this set 4 stars. Also, I'm expecting not be charged for return shipping. But if another defective table arrives, I will lower my rating to 2 stars. My fingers are crossed.
HORRIBLE CHAIRS

While the set is decent quality-and does indeed LOOK nice- the chairs are a NIGHTMARE to put together- as the fit is not right!!!! They DO rock- 2 chairs took about 3 hours to assemble-just b/c peices DO NOT fit together well.
23" inches wide!?

Umm....is that right?! I just got out my measuring tape and went to my dining area. The table I have right now is a small table...and it's even wider than that!

Not only did this set take over 4 hours to put together (3 hours on the chairs alone because you actually have to bend the wood to get the pieces to fit together, the dowels are too long so there are large gaps between pieces, and the screws and bolts cause the wood to splinter) but the table top, bench top, and seats on the chairs are all different color woods and one of the chairs is crooked and rocks back and forth. Would not recommend this to anyone who is actually looking for a quality product. Was inches away from throwing the whole set out the window.
poor fit and finish, chairs not stable

The set went together with some difficulty. The pre-drilled holes did not line up as they should and after some trouble, I did get it together. Over the next 3 months, the joints gradually loosened and the chairs became all but dangerous to sit in. I should have returned the set after I initially discovered the poor constuction; but I tried to give it a chance. I am an experience wood-worker and trust me, it was not operator error. For [the price] after shipping, this set is a very poor value. I would not recommend it to anyone.
question

I haven't ordered this yet, but could someone tell me if it really is 23" wide? It looks larger in the pic, especially if the chairs and bench fit under it. Do the chairs and bench fit under it? thanks.
Looks even better in person, Love It!

My husband and I are very pleased with the purchase of this dining set. It looks much bigger and nicer in person. Assembly was a snap. I really examined my bench upon arrival and I do not see one bit of streaky red paint like other online reviews. I cannot find one problem with this set. We are very pleased. We have twin girls and a little boy and we still have plenty of room together at this table. [...] I would order it again in a heartbeat.
Love it!

I had been eyeing this table for quite a while before I bought it. Kept waiting for it to go down a little in price. After I finally purchased it I saw all these disappointing reviews and I got so nervous! However the table arrived and looks beautiful! The red marks are NOT a big deal and the chairs are NOT short. Definately a great value! :) Ps. Assembley wasn't terribly difficult either!
Nicer than I paid for!

Let me just say that this table exceeded my expectations. The picture doesn't do it justice. Yes, the distressing looks like swipes of streaky red paint, but there are only 2-3 streaks on the bench that I could find on my set and seeing as how I paid $300ish for a kitchen table that will seat 6 adults and probably 7 if you wedge 3 kids on the bench, I can't complain too much about that. If the streaks bother you, maybe buy 2 chairs to replace the bench with? The chairs are pretty much solid black w/ the dark oak seats. The top of the table looks like a routed butcher block style that makes the table look more expensive than it was. Now all Target needs to do is add a buffet table that's cheap and matches this. Hint, hint.
