misleading description, decent build quality and aesthetic

First thing noticed is that the cushion is smaller than pictured on the page. Here it shows it spanning from curved edge to curved edge. What arrived is 2 inches shorter than that. Next, the graphics in the description show the folders being inserted horizontally, but it turns out the drawer is only designed for vertical, front-to-back use (see staff answer in the Questions section).

Overpriced for Under-developed Features

~ One of the sides arrived slightly bent out of shape. ~ It only has two locking wheels, which don't keep the filing cabinet in place well at all. ~ The seat cushion is "attached" by a very weak magnet that leaves you sliding around and having to catch yourself if you do any adjusting while you are sitting. + For the price, I expected more attention to these important details. I may be returning this item for a refund.

A little pricey but worth it for the quality you get

This cabinet is just the right size to tuck under my 48 inch wide desk - it gives me enough room to tuck in my chair and sit off to the side of it. It came fully assembled which was a plus since there was no hassle to put it together, and the exterior finish is smooth and high quality. I personally don’t need to hang files in the drawers so I’m not sure whether they’re the right size for that, but it offers plenty of storage otherwise and comes with a tray for stationery to use in the top drawer. It rolls smoothly and the seat on top adds some extra convenience. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone who wants some extra storage for their height adjustable desk.

Removed the casters, works well on floor.

I took the casters off, the drawer roller support (not shown in the photos), never put on the magnetic top cushion, and put this right on the floor. Worked perfectly as stand for multi-function laser printer next to desk. VERY will packed, Maybe the best packing I've seen for something so large. Protected corners, double wall box, foam everywhere, just great. 1 star off because the front bottom drawer has a little roller support on the front that is not shown in photos, and about 3" wasted space in the back of unit, drawers could have been longer, or the unit less deep.

Good quality, attractive cabinet

I love it exactly what I expected. Looks great, fits perfectly in space. The only disappointment was that I had to order an insert separately to hold hanging folders. Wish there was an option to include with purchase.

This is the most terrible filing cabinet I have ever purchased, don’t buy it if you plan on actually hanging files in the hanging filing cabinet - it won’t work. I realized this late in the process after reviewing countless others with the same problem. To be fair, the overall quality, and design is spot on and looks great, but it also needs to function, and thats where this one misses the mark. The bottom drawer marketed for accommodating hanging files is missing the proper hardware bars to accommodate the files. In addition the depth is not big enough to accommodate a file folder with a tab on it. I thought I was simply missing a part and contacted Monoprice product support, only to reach a rep who knew nothing about the product, could not answer any questions, and all he could do was offer to initiate a return. When I told him I already discarded the box it came in, he had no solutions of recommendations. Stay away.

Looks great, serves its purpose

It's a file cabinet that holds things and serves as a seat, how much functionality are you looking to get out of it? Workstream products are fantastic, much of our office is made up of their product line and we have yet to be disappointed. The build quality is always outstanding and we have never received a used/returned item. After purchasing one of these cabinets, we turned around and ordered two more because they were exactly what we needed. I would agree with the review that out of the box, they are not designed to hold/organize file folders upright like a traditional filing cabinet. Our employees use these as storage for office equipment like paper, pens, headsets, and snacks. The seat works perfect when someone comes into your office for a quick discussion. You don't have to store another chair nearby, they can slide the cabinet out from under your desk and have a seat. I am just over 200lbs and the cabinet feels sturdy and comfortable for a short period.

Good things first.: - No Assembly required. - Very good packaging, very low risk of getting damaged during shipping. Bad thing: - I ordered a lot of Workstream products by now. Most of them (about 2/3) seem to be returns from other customers. The taped shut packaging, weird placement of items and other indicator showed this. - Does not fit hanging folders. There is a loose piece of metal in one of the two I ordered. It does not fit anywhere. No manual, no packing list, no "what in the box" neither with the parts nor online. - Each of the two roller files came with a pencil holder inlay. It fit nice into one of them, not the other one.

not really designed for files

first you need the extra part to be use letter files, IE what most offices have. Second even with the extra part the files sit sideways not front to back, so you have to open the whole drawer to get into any file. Also the drawer is not tall enough if you put a tabbed file folder in they will drag and catch when you open and close the drawer. The cabinet itself is made quite well but its design is flawed. For this price pick something else.

Great build quality

Can't beat this quality for the price! This is just what I needed for my room. It fits nicely under my desk and when I need a spare seat, it's right there. the caster wheels roll smoothly and sitting on it feels nice and sturdy. The magnets on the seat cushion are not very strong but it doens't really need to be. I'm only sitting on it after all.
