The chemical smell when I opened the box was very strong. The base of the chairs is like a molded, heavy duty plastic- it doesn’t look like wood at all. It looked cheap IMO There were stains / smudges on the band if material between the frame and cane.

High quality, sturdy and easy to put together. The only issue was the smell. It was very chemically but went away after a day.
