Q: Are these dishes ceramic or stoneware? I was looking for stoneware, as they are more durable, and that is what the description said. My boxes just arrived, and they say "Ceramic dinnerware". So are they stoneware or ceramic?

A: Hi LindaL. According to the manufacturer website this set is Stoneware. There may have been a mistake on the print box, but this set does not feel like ceramic construction.

I am so pleased with these dishes! They are cute and colorful and seem to be good quality. So far so good after a couple weeks use. They don't get hot in the microwave and are dishwasher safe. We don't miss the regular salad plates like I thought we would. We actually really like the "rice bowls"/plates. And I really like the smaller soup bowls as well. I am just very happy with these dishes! There are a few very minor irregularities in the glaze and speckle on a few of the pieces as noted in other reviews, but on my sets they are hardly noticeble. For the price, the minor imperfections are easy to overlook. I am also very happy with Target's customer service. Their price on these dishes was much less than anywhere else. They were packed very well when shipped, but one plate (out of 4 sets) was broken when it arrived. Target graciously replaced the set without making me go through the hassle of returning the damaged one. Great customer service!

Great Dishes
The dishes are pretty and were exactly what we were looking for. There is some variation between each plate in regards to the shape, so the stack of the dishes can be a bit wobbly, but we like how each dish is unique. Only reason this is not a 5 star review is because the foot of the dishes are still a little rough. I'm hesitant about sliding them across any surfaces as it may cause scratching. Only a one-star deduction though because it's nothing a little bit of sand paper and some placemats won't fix.

Definitely take the advice from other reviews and get fine grit sandpaper! I got a 220 block and smoothed out the bottom rings…otherwise you will scratch everything they touch! Otherwise super pretty and a great price.

The glaze is weak and the beautiful surfaces came with scratches. The bottoms need to be sanded or the will scratch other plates when stacked or wood/glass tables. For the money these aren’t bad, I’ve decided to keep them and see how long they hold up.

Nice design. Quality is uneven.
We love the colors and sizes of the pieces. We got three sets to have enough for our family. We found that the glazing and finishes have lots of defects: unglazed rims, kiln deposits, rough feet (the part that contacts the table), deep scratches in the top glaze, drips and runs in the top glaze, etc. Given that these are going to get scratched and scuffed from normal use, we decided to accept this, but buyers should know that the product suffers from poor attention to detail in manufacturing.
