Q: What is the difference between ancestry origins + traits and ancestry traits? There are two different boxes.

  • A: I had the same question and the short answer is origins and traits is better. According to Google this one has the basics plus other traits. It says traits are things like if you are a night person, how your heart rate recovers and actual physical traits. I don’t know why it’s less money lol but that’s the one I’m going to buy.

  • A: I ordered the upgraded, more expensive kit, and received a box that did not say Origins nor Origins+Traits. I called AncestryDNA, and they said the box must be marked with "traits" - mine doesn't.

  • A: Not necessarily. Even if you share the same parents, each child can have a different combination of genes from their parents. Think about how different some siblings can look.
