Chemical off-gassing

I cannot recommend this rug. I bought it for my son's room but shortly after placing it, we noticed a consistent chemical smell emanating from his room, especially during the day when the room is warmer and direct sunlight hits it. At first we were very confused by the source of the smell but we've now clearly identified the rug as the source and it is very persistent -- it has been almost two months and it's not going away. This product should be OEKO-TEX certified from the branding but this amount of off-gassing for a children's room product is very concerning and simply should not happen. Not sure how to remedy the situation or let the manufacturer know other than by leaving a review here.

Sometimes new rugs can have a temporary scent that may be more noticeable in warmer conditions. To help reduce this, we recommend placing the rug in a well ventilated area, allowing it to air out for several days, and using baking soda to help absorb odors before vacuuming. If the smell persists or you are not comfortable keeping the rug, we recommend reaching out to Target support for assistance with next steps. We appreciate you sharing your experience.

Avoid - not machine washable and paper thin.

Extremely thin - far thinner than any washable rug I own, and we have several. It is very “hard” and is not machine washable. Stains very easily, very slippery on the floor. Does not add any softness or comfort. Probably should be sold for $25 or less.

Astronaut Rug

I purchased this rug several weeks ago and I really like how it's holding up in my child's room. I'm not sure if her little feet count as "high traffic" but she's in her room a lot! It seems like there will be some durability with all her adventures in this world and out. I also like that it's washable.
