Heavy duty, but may not be compostable?

These plates are great quality. They’re strong and leak-proof without the plastic coating other paper plates have. The packaging is a bit misleading, as the plates specifically say “commercially compostable only,” meaning they won’t decompose in a home compost bin. I personally don’t know anyone that composts commercially, but I guess they’re still more earth-friendly than other disposable plates.

I received this product for free from the Hey, Bullseye™ sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I was looking forward to trying what I thought was going to be an earth friendly and easily compostable paper product to replace what I currently use. While these Matter Compostable White Fiber Plates held up as I expected, they can only be composted in a commercial facility. I do not have a free composting facility close to me so unfortunately, this makes these plates trash. I would not purchase them on my own because of the HUGE compositing message on the top of the plate.

I recently tried the Matter Compostable Fiber Disposable Plates, and I’m genuinely impressed. These plates are a great eco-friendly alternative to plastic or foam disposables. Made from compostable fiber, they’re sturdy enough to handle a full meal without getting soggy or bending—even with hot, greasy, or saucy foods. What stood out most to me was the balance between sustainability and functionality. They feel much more durable than typical paper plates, yet they break down naturally after use, which aligns with my efforts to reduce waste. The simple, clean design also makes them suitable for everything from casual gatherings to more formal events. If you’re looking for disposable plates that are kind to the planet without sacrificing quality, Matter plates are a solid choice. I’ll definitely be ordering them again.

I love these plates - I was pleasantly surprised to find that they held up to heavy foods, and did not leak grease or liquids through the plate. The only thing I didn't like is that they weren't terribly pretty and were just white.

I was really impressed with the Matter compostable plates! They're thick, sturdy, and don’t get soggy, even with heavier meals. Best part is that they’re eco-friendly, so I feel good using them for parties and family dinners.

These plates are excellent. They are thick and sturdy. I love how Earth friendly they are, but I also love that I can trust them to be sturdy enough for a summer bbq, or a party. I don’t feel bad about tossing them either because of how environmentally friendly they are.

These compostable plates are nice and sturdy. They hold a lot of weight without collapsing. They seem like they would also stand up to moisture very well. I like that they’re compostable, because I think that means they don’t have a bunch of yucky chemicals. But, when you open them they say, “commercially compostable only. Facilities may not exist in your area.” I’m not sure what that means, but I assume you can’t just toss these in your own compost pile in your yard. In my area you can probably include these with your yard waste that the city picks up, but you can do that with regular paper plates as well. Also, I don’t like embossed words on my plate.

These plates are perfect for all the summer bbqs! They’re sturdy so you can load it up and not worry about it falling apart. The size is perfect for every day use too if that is something you like to do.

I was really impressed with these plates. They’re sturdy enough to hold up to big meals with no bending or leaking and they still feel lightweight and smooth. What I love most is that they’re fully compostable, so I can toss them in my compost bin without any guilt. Great for parties, picnics, or just nights when I don’t want to do dishes. A solid eco-friendly option that doesn’t sacrifice quality!

Matter’s compostable plates are a sturdy, eco-friendly alternative to other disposable options. It’s made from plant-based fiber, but they’re strong enough for substantial meals. The drawback here is it decomposes in commercial composting facilities only, but I do have the option to compost with my waste management providers. Not an option for everyone I imagine. Overall, the plates are leak-resistant, microwave-safe, and PFAS-free option for home-use. They have a classic design and slightly raised rim suitable for a variety of foods. While commercial composting is required, the commitment to renewable materials makes them worth considering for environmentally-conscious consumers.

These are nice and thick, and we had no issues with wet foods soaking through. They are very much an in-between size, better for a single type of food, not a whole meal. My local trash service doesn't allow compostable tableware, but I appreciate that feature of them!

These plates are great. They are sturdy, really thick so they are less likely to bend or fold over. I like that they are compostable, too. Definitely will purchase these plates again next time I go for paper products.

I live matter compostable plates and bowls. I have used multiple sizes and shapes, usually for holiday entertaining . We have commercial composting as part of our weekly trash pickup so I can just toss these in the bin and feel better about myself.
Nice and thick. Great compostable option.

These work great. They are thick and hold food well. They seem pretty much like a normal thick paper disposable plate, similar to Chinet brand. No complaints! It hasn’t been long enough for them to actually turn into compost yet but it’s great to know they won’t last forever like plastic plates. I also like the small amount in the package. Great for camping or a picnic.

Perfect to have some paper plates on hand! I love having a paper option when life gets super busy! I usually limit myself to buying plates 3 or 4 times a year to cut back on waste. These are a great option! These were super sturdy and did not leak or get weak

These plates are very strong and leak proof. I’ve used these for many different meals and the plates never bent or leaked with any of them. These are also microwaveable so great for easy warm up of foods. Also compostable if you have that option available. I really like how strong these are and how nothing leaks through. Great for outdoor use for all those summer BBQ’s.

Great paper plates! They have survived teriyaki and had no leaks through and also breakfast with syrup and no issues either. The plate says “commercially compostable only” if that matters to you. Overall, just fine.
