Muted gold not wood. Also, the 12x16 is for the exterior dimensions of the frame, not for the actual print area (I bought this specifically to put my own prints in thinking it would be appropriately sized to a 12x16 print).

I am disappointed in the shipping of this item. The picture was NOT wrapped in any kind of plastic or paper. In addition to the picture, I ordered 8 bags of cereal which spilled onto the picture. My suggestion when shipping art work, please wrap it in paper or bubble wrap. Thankl you.

Frame color
Why do all the photos on Target show a wooden frame but they give you a gold frame when you purchase it. I personally do not like the gold frame and that’s very deceptive.

Correct the frame is not a "brown" as in the prod specs and does have a gold/brownish hue but for me it works! Not of fan of light colored wood, and I was prepped to reframed it. I love the muted watercolor look. I'm keeping mine and it's lovely in my home

This is a darling and nice quality picture but it’s framed in a cheap looking plastic goldish frame instead of the wood frame advertised. The frame it’s advertised with would have looked better. I ordered it online and will return.

Misleading pic
Like the other review says, the frame is gold. I did order pickup so didn’t realize until I got home. Decided to order online to see if that one came with a wooden frame but it was also gold. It will still work with my decor and the painting is adorable however I would have preferred the wood frame.
