Schmidt Bros Cutlery Knife Block Acacia Downtown

My wife and I love the Acacia Honeycomb magnetic knife block. Our old one was moldy inside and couldn’t be cleaned, that will never be an issue with this one

First impressions are that it’s gorgeous and sturdy and I’m glad I made the investment. I’d definitely buy this for chef friends.

Now for the kitchen makeover...

Good looking and functional.

Love the look and functionality of the knife block. The one gripe I have is that the images of the knife Block show a wood color that's a little lighter than the one we got. I would have preferred the color in the image but the one we got still works and is beautiful. Coming from a traditional thick, slotted, knife block, this feels like a major upgrade in kitchen efficiency. Another "downside": I am now feeling pressured to find some prettier knives to compliment the display case ?

Absolutely Gorgeous! I had too many knives to fit in my knife block. This solved my problem.

I live in a house with cats. This is a very attractive solution to the co-existence of knives and cats

It’s even prettier in person. Heavier than I expected, holds all my knives and takes up less space than my old one. Magnets are very strong.

The bar that mounts to the wall does not lie flush because the screw is in the wrong place creating a gap between the wall and the bar. "( So when you pull a knife from the magnet it shakes or bangs. It would be easier to show in a video versus a photo Design is beautiful tho.

It does what it says on the tin, but like many others who have reviewed it, the French cleat mounting system is simply bad. I thought maybe those folks hadn’t tightened it down enough, so I really made sure my mount bar was tight to the wall. Despite the effort, it wobbles. Add to that the fact that the cleat doesn’t capture/prevent any horizontal movement, so once it’s hanging, the bar can slide freely left and right (up to a limit), which is also just poor design. This object clearly is designed for mass production and lacking in human-centered design.

I decided to get rid of my cutco knife block since it was looking kind of shabby. I purchased this magnetic knife block. It works as advertised and actually holds more knives than the cutco block that I had....for less $$.

I had noticed that the means of attachment of the clear shield seemed to show part of the hole drilled into it in some of the pictures. It turns out that these holes are apparently elongated and that the grommet is insufficiently sized to cover the full hole. The grommets are bright white which draws attention to this deficiency. There surely must be a more elegant solution. Like others, I had a small splinter missing from the squared edge on the top, this should have been rounded slightly to improve access to the slot and prevent chipping. Good idea, but less than perfect execution. I like the safety aspect of having the cover, but not the way it is attached, which seems crude and not thought out very well.

It is beautiful on my countertop and does not take up a lot of space.

While this wall mounted magnetic knife holder looks great it is lacking in a couple of areas. The most important being the magnets. While they hold your knives, they could be a bit stronger. Also I think they are circular and should be bar type. I find weak spots. The finish is very thin and very easily scratches revealing the wood beneath. Also as other have stated the template for hanging is way off and I find it lazy that a company that claims to be one of high standards has no remedied this issue.

We got this knife block as a wedding gift and love it! It is beautiful and looks great in our kitchen. The magnet is strong enough to hold all different sizes of knifes. My only knock is that it is difficult to clean.

How well they handle, how they fit in my hand and effortless they are to use

The reviews are accurate and the mounting template is basically useless how ever you can simply place the screws in the brackets and press them into your mounting surface to make accurate marks. The magnets and overall look is great no complaints.

This far exceeded my expectations. It is well built, fits nicely on the side of my toaster oven in the counter. You can easily see what knife you need and pull it out. I had family member get cut by a knife not seated well in a block holder. This avoids any exposed blades , as you can clearly see every knife and it blade placement.. Hats off to the design team… i believe you nailed it! !
