I've had Loews install depart attempt to install 2 different Hunter fans model # 54187. The first fan was defective and non-working out of the box. The 2nd (replacement) fan blades spin, but the light kit and bulb strobe and are not controllable with the remote. Returning fan and looking for a different model/supplier today

Nicely Built Fan with Poor Settings

The fan, while having a great build quality as well as fit and finish, did not meet our expectations. The lighting is too dim, and trying to use a brighter bulb isn't possible as it blinds you since the glass globe has no frosting on it. It is insufficient to properly light even a small room. On top of that, the fan only has 3-speed settings programmed. The lowest speed hardly moves any air at all, the medium speed is close to a normal high-speed setting, and the high-speed setting is obnoxiously fast. We also purchased the Lykke 52" fan which has a much better speed system, as well as a better lighting system built in. I wish I could recommend this fan, but I can't unless you don't plan to use the lighting, and only want a fast fan.

How do I remove the light kit?

Purchased a Hunter #53393. The instructions were not user friendly and took me awhile to snap in the light fixture. After that I attempted to remove it to retighten one of the fan blades to the motor. To date, I cannot get the light kit removed from the motor housing. I’m beyond aggravated. The installation manual is not very informative. Can you please offer some guidance? Thank you

This is the second time I purchased this fan. The first time, no issues. Two years later I bought one for my master bedroom and one for my guest bedroom. We installed the first one in the master and it makes a loud clicking sound. We cannot get the fan cap off (we did not install the light) to see what could be causing the sound. We have called Hunter two times now and waited on hold over 45 minutes the first time (My husband actually spoke to someone but she had no idea how to help and ultimately hung up on him) and 30 minutes the second time before getting discouraged and hanging up. We are extremely frustrated as we can't get the fan off to check it or remove/replace it so at this point it is a ceiling ornament.

Light flickers when fan speed is changed

Instructions were clear enough that I felt confident installing the fan myself as a first timer. Everything was fairly straightforward but we had a very hard time getting the “quick connect” light fixture to snap into place. Finally got it, and read online after that WD-40 helped someone else get the pin in place. Fan is beautiful, was worried light would be too dim based on some of the reviews but I think it’s plenty of light for a bedroom. Motor has a slight hum but nothing too loud. Biggest issue is that the light flickers when the fan speed is changed - couldn’t find advice online on how to resolve this.

The fan looks great, but there are issues. 1) This fan is REMOTE ONLY. While you may be able to hook it to a particular traditional light / fan speed wall switch, I haven't had any luck yet. That information isn't readily available on the website unless you dig into reviews. 2) Assembly hardware is sub-par. I had one of the ceiling mounting wood screws snap in half during installation. 3) The fan to motor mount screws are not in a bag like the instructions say, they are actually used to hold the shipping blocks to the motor. While the instructions say "keep these screws for later" they don't say what for, and the instructions don't say those screws are used for the shipping blocks. As such when we did inventory of parts after opening the box we were led to believe we were missing parts. A call to CS had them shipped to us over a week later so even their sub-par support didn't think to mention it. Your mileage my vary.

Low speed hum in both directions. Removed the fan and reinstalled it checking all connections and fasteners. I believe it is the motor because during the directional change when there is no movement, the motor still hums. I purchased this fan because of the Hunter name and reliability.

I should have read the reviews before I purchased this fan. I looks great but the silly thing beeps when you turn it on from either the remote or the wall switch. Also, the fan and light cannot be operated separately from switches only the remote. Sadly making this not a good option for a stairway hall light setup.

This is a good looking fan. We put the brushed nickel in our master bedroom, and the matte black in our living room. We have had no problem with the one in the bedroom, but there’s something wrong with the living room fan, it is way too noisy. Our toddler likes to play with the switches on the wall, so sometimes it’s tricky figuring out how to get the light or fan back on since it can only be controlled by the remote. If you’re buying it for looks, definitely do it. But functionality, leaves a lot to be desired. The switches that are recommended for the fan are very flimsy and we’ve had to replace them twice already, and our light doesn’t dim.

Why is this not an option? the fan ONLY works with the remote, even if you have 2 wall switches. it also makes an annoying beep every time you use it... which also cannot be bypassed. beautiful in the way it looks, but a horrible design.

This fan can only be operated using the included controls due to the fan not having pull chains. On select Hunter fans, the control system is designed to “beep” when a button is pressed on the remote control. The reason is so the user will know the command has been received by the fan. There is no way to turn off the audible beep. If you cannot accept the designed feature, please contact us at customercare@hunterfan.com or call 1-888-830-1326 for help.

The beeping is very annoying (fixable if you google and are willing to void the warranty). Biggest problem is the inability to actually use 2 wall switches. The fan power line has to have constant power to make the fan or light usable. Horrible design and not explained at all in the literature.

Fan looks great and functions fine, but at any speed there is a scraping noise internally. Installer spent significant time on possible balance problems but the noise is internal to the motor. At this time I would not recommend, we will see if/how quickly I will be furnished a replacement motor.

We recently installed the three light version of this fan in the living room and it looks so good, I wanted to get the single light version for the master. Just installed and I was not disappointed. I did have issues with the dimming feature not working at first, but the answers to the questions here helped me fix it. I just held down both the up and down arrow buttons with the light on for 5 seconds and then was able to dim per the instructions card. The fan in the living room didn’t have this issue- but it was installed on two switches. The bedroom was installed with one switch and does have the issue. I do wish the two switch option would have one switch power the light and the other switch power the fan- instead one is the master power to both fan and light and the other is only the light on/off. So you can’t turn on the light without the fan with just the switches. However, the remote is easy enough to use and I installed it right next to the switches so it’s not a big enough deal to me to take a star off.

We just installed our new Bennett fan. This isn't our first Hunter. We love it. BUT! I can't get the light to dim. If I hold the button down it just shuts off. I tried the arrow buttons. They only work the fan. Am I doing something wrong. I've tried every way I can think of. No joy...

This is one of the better designs hunter has from an aesthetic perspective. That said, the remote feature was a major disappointment. Hunter should really clarify that this unit only works on a single switch. I like having separate switches for the fan and light. The remote had a very difficult time with this and there’s no way to bypass the remote sensor without some high school level electrical engineering. On top of that the remote chirps every time you push a button. It is loud. Overall, I’d buy this fan in a heartbeat if it didn’t have a remote. But it does. And my bedroom currently has poor air circulation.

You're correct, since this fan does not have pull chains, it is designed to be primarily controlled via the included remote. We recommend purchasing a fan that contains pull chains to allow for more versatile control options.

Fan works well, quiet. Clear globe is too big and ugly. Remote is tiny and cheap and unless theres a way to turn off the loud beep coming from ceiling every time you push a button, its going back!

Absolutely love the look of this fan and it runs so quietly. It would have gotten 5 stars IF it didn’t have the annoying beeps EVERY time you push a button!! We have this installed in our bedroom and it is very loud if you want to change the fan speed in the middle of the night!
