Impossible to assemble, back it goes

After spending 1.5 hours on trying to assemble just one of the two chairs we gave up. The screws don't go in all the way, the arms can't be attached properly, etc. Back it goes. We are not new to assembling furniture.

missing a screw in the parts pieces, somewhat difficult to align the arms properly. The end result is sturdy but doesn't come with anything on the bottom of chairs so can scrap the hardwoods.
