Description
Inspired by the African keyhole gardening technique, the Classic 3x5 Keyhole Composting Garden lets you compost household waste and grow vegetables in the same garden.
A central compost basket is used in the Keyhole Garden to conveniently place your daily kitchen scraps. This household waste is then organically transformed into nutrient rich soil that nourishes your vegetables. Compost fed soil better holds moisture and nutrients, while using up to 70% less water.
Crafted from a durable food grade BPA/phthalate-free vinyl that ensures healthy, safe food production and a long product lifespan. Boards slide into posts easily and conveniently, with no need for tools or screws. Our innovative posts make for perfectly modular garden beds, allowing you to design and configure your own unique layout and size.
It’s smart, sustainable and beautifully designed. Inspired to Give Back
We stumbled upon the Keyhole Garden concept while researching organic gardening methods. This inspired us to create our own series of garden beds using this African gardening technique. This idea was gifted to us by the African people and so we felt compelled to give back.

I recently purchased 2 3'x5' keyhole garden boxes. I was very impressed with how easy they were to assemble. I assembled the first one alone in less than 20 minutes. When I unpacked the second one, I discovered that one of the side panels was broken. I was disappointed, because I was very anxious to get these set up and start planting. I contacted the manufacturer, and had THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE experience in a long while. The representative quickly identified the piece I needed, confirmed my shipping address and arranged to have it shipped to me. She was efficient, professional and friendly. The replacement piece arrived from Canada (I'm in New England) in 4 days. The boxes are all set up, look great, and i expect I will be harvesting some amazing vegetables from my new garden boxes within a few months!
I would definitely buy this again

This a great garden box. Purchased two and set them up and filled them myself. I'm a 55 year female and this is great on my back. Best harvest I've had and zero weeds.
I will be buying two more!

Well made and easy to put together. Looks really great too. Easy on the back and knees because it's a nice height to work from. Also high enough to keep out rabbits and ground hogs.
I will be buying another love this product.

The compost basket needs a fine mesh screen-wrapping...or something to keep the soil from pouring into it as you fill the bed. I wrapped mine with landscape fabric before filling the bed with soil/compost/peat/vermiculite.
Great product!

This looks nice and even better works well for my raised veggie garden needs. I like the keyhole compost. I didn't have a problem setting it up as some others commented on. Anticipating needing to fill it when I was setting bed up and adding soil, I had plenty of leaves and yard waste to fill it with my kitchen waste to start the compost at set up. Filled the keyhole compost up first and then added soil so I didn't have any problems with soil filling it up. I think some burlap around it as one other reviewer mentioned might be a nice addition to limit the seeping soil into the compost. But overall this has been great and plants are flourishing!

Forus, this was an affordable option for raised beds to grow some vegetables and herbs in our yard. We're hoping to keep the squirrels out or at least at bay.
Burlap/newspaper for keyhole

Soil is going to seep into the keyhole if left as is. And keep the keyhole. Don't toss it. It'll help in the long run for your plants, especially if you add red worms to your raised bed. However, to prevent them from getting filled with soil, wrap it in burlap, layer newspaper around it, or straw or hay or whatever "browns" you have on hand. It'd be awesome if the company included one burlap piece for the gardener to install on their own. (Hint hint-nod nod)
Unbelievably easy to set up

I put 4 of these together this morning by myself. Everything fits like a glove and slides together with ease. I am not using these as keyhole gardens. That part seems useless and poorly planned, but as a raised bed it is sturdy. I placed a bale of hay in the bottom of each bed. It will cut down on the amount of soil needed to fill them. So far I'm very pleased.
I knew I'd love it the first time I saw it!

I've had other garden beds but I love this one because it's higher and while. I have some orthopedic issues therefore the higher bed makes it much easier for me to tend to my plants. It looks lovely in my yard as well!

We got one of these this summer. I can NOT believe the yield we got! We filled it with cucumbers so I could make my pickles. Wow. This was the best yield we have ever had with cukes. We are going to get 2 more before spring! This works.
Great Product at a great price!

It is the easiest raised planter I have ever put together. It is well built and is a great addition to anyone's yard. If you are someone who is not good with tools, but want to start a garden at home. Then this is the box I would recommend.
I would get more

I just got them for this season. Made a u garden with them. Not sure about the keyhole it's not sturdy and dirt easily fills it even with compost in it. I'll see how it works
lining the basket with straw is helpful

if you keep the center basket packed in straw it will help with the soil from going into the basket .you can even use shredded newspaper or cardboard
