Solid
I'm using this to sit while playing my electric bass. I had four criteria: backrest, swivel, 24" height (so I can keep my feet flat on the floor and reach my pedal board), and no wheels/castors. This is about the only product I found on the whole internet to meet all of these criteria. In addition, it can raise to up to 28", which is closer to traditional "barstool" height. The seat diameter is 17.5", which is (I think) pretty standard, although a little larger than I would like. There isn't very much cushion on the seat, so you may not want to spend 8 hrs/day on it as a work stool. The footrest seems lower than a "typical" barstool; it may be too low for guitars players who put one or both of their feet on it and rely on their knee to keep the instrument positioned (especially with the seat raised to the 28" maximum height). The backrest is perfect for me, but it's really for the *extreme* lower back (tailbone, almost), and only effective if you sit toward the rear of the seat. The assembly is lightweight and seems to be solid construction. Very easy to assemble, but make sure you tighten the screws under the seat with the provided Allen wrench. I've had no problems in that regard, but I could see where others might. If you have problems with your grip (arthritis or other pain), buy some Loctite as another reviewer suggested. Five stars from me, but I can understand 3 or 4 stars from others who have different uses.
