When unfolded, the dimensions are 77"D (37.7" + 39.3") x 76.3"W. Within this size range, you may either use two twin-size mattresses combined or opt for one larger foldable mattress. The trundle bed measures 39.3"D x 70.5"W. We recommend choosing a mattress that is 4 inches thick and fits within these dimensions. Q: What is the purpose of the 3rd extension (the lowest)? Can this accomodate 3 children on 3 mattresses? If so, does the bed have space for storing the 2nd and 3rd mattress?

Requires non tradional mattress size

Wanted to love this bed because of the features - trundle that creates a king bed. However, quite disappointed that the dimensions are larger than a traditional twin mattress. Still debating on returning the bed to purchase a frame that accommodates standard American mattress sizes.
