Q: What is the purpose of the 3rd extension (the lowest)? Can this accomodate 3 children on 3 mattresses? If so, does the bed have space for storing the 2nd and 3rd mattress?

Wanted to love this bed because of the features - trundle that creates a king bed. However, quite disappointed that the dimensions are larger than a traditional twin mattress. Still debating on returning the bed to purchase a frame that accommodates standard American mattress sizes.
