I would think the metal of a filing folder would rough up and most likely rip the fabric rather quickly. I use mine for my IKEA Kallax system for clothes, collectibles and general storage items privacy.

These bins are a waste of money. They cannot support more than a couple of pounds without bending out of shape. This would not happen if the company would use a much stronger cardboard! I did not return them as I was having visitors and needed to finish the room.

Cute but not sturdy enough.
They just aren't sturdy enough they should not have a cardboard interior structure it should at least be a hard plastic. They bend and break very easily.
