Shocked at how terrible this is! It fades out after a few uses and washes terrible. It’s super scraped up and looks like I’ve had it for ages. Not a real wood cutting board! I bought this on a whim, and definitely regret it.

Careful of reviews from ignorant consumers
I bought this board for my new apartment back in Dec. 7 months later and the board is holding up pretty well. I'll start with the negatives that can be confirmed from the other reviews. 1. Yes, the board can start to give off an odor. This is, if you don't treat it with mineral oil, butcher block conditioner, etc as is recommended for all wooden cutting boards. 2. It doesn't self-heal as one would think it claims to. I use this board a 2-3 times per week on avg. It shows knife marks. For $30 (price when I bought it), I'm not going to complain. Other than that, it's a phenomenal board, ESPECIALLY considering it's a budget cutting board. The way I care for the board is every 5-7 uses I will oil it after I've washed it with soap and water and dried it with a dish towerl and let it sit for 24 hrs before using it again. Once every 3 months (so only twice so far) I will place the board in a non-fragranced garbage bag, place a little bit of oil and coat the surface of it, let it sit in the bag overnight. Take it out and I let it dry for 24 hours. Basically, I care for this board as if it were any other wooden cutting board. The product category has higher maintenance by default. I also have a (larger) plastic cutting board to supplement larger tasks, but I prefer using this for my daily driver as it doesn't mess up my knife blades. 100% of the worn condition photos you've seen in reviews are from people that are lazy or uninformed and simply toss a wooden cutting board into the dishwasher.

Terrible quality
Terrible quality from day one. Nothing about the board is self-healing. It’s almost as if the entire design integrity lays on a very thin surface at the top. It looked like a cat attacked it after the first time I used it and progressively looked worse each time after. Target quality across the board (pun intended) is extremely disappointing.

I purchased this cutting board nearly a year ago now. It’s beautiful, but it wears out quickly. The finish and coloration has faded and the board looks rough. It’s used about 1-4 times a week and always immediately hand washed and dried. It does have a nice weight, but you’ll want a towel or something underneath to prevent it sliding around as you use it.

Chemical/barf/dumpster smell after washing
I got this cutting board a few weeks ago and I kept smelling this chemical-like vomit smell, couldn't put my finger on it. I thought maybe my dishwasher or garbage disposal was in need of disinfecting until I picked up the cutting board and got a wiff of this chemical-hot garbage stink and I had to throw it away. Don't waste your money on this! Who even knows what chemicals seeped into mine and my kids' food!! I would give 0 stars if there were an option.

The website "Serious Eats" recommends end grain boards over edge grain boards as they are better for keeping knives sharp. Acacia, though not the best wood for such an application, is a good compromise of price and function. Based on this recommendation, I bought this board and it is holding up well so far. It looks nice, is hefty enough and my knives have stayed sharp.
