Q: Does the board have a protective coating on its surface? It does not feel like natural wood to the touch and after several weeks of use I’ve oiled it and it is not soaking in oil like I’m used to.

  • A: Hi Maija, I don't know for sure, but it sort of smells like they've coated the boards with linseed oil. As long as it's not boiled linseed oil then it should be fine for use.

    The original set I bought warped and CRACKED down the middle. So I bought a second set thinking the first one was just a bad batch. NO. it’s just a horrible quality cutting board. I recently cooked steak and let it rest on the cutting board before cutting it up, and all of the juices went THROUGH the cutting board and all over my countertops! overall HORRIBLE QUALITY. would not recommend. p.s. sorry I don’t have pics of the first set. but trust that this is a bad quality set of cutting boards.

    Stinks! Other reviews are true and came here to say the same. At first, my husband and I were trying to figure out if something had died behind our dishwasher, but it took us about 2 weeks to figure out what it was by taking the cutting board out of the dishwasher and the smell had dissipated...then returned when we placed the board inside the pantry where the smell returned! Save your money. I couldn't return it since I trashed the label.
