Q: Is this container stackable
A: Hi Ellen! The 27 Gal. Heavy Duty Storage Tote is made out of Polypropylene plastic, and was designed for general household storage. Most household storage purposes do not require suggested weight limitations. Our products have not been specifically tested for various weight potential, and we suggest consumers not overload them or stack more than three high. This could cause distortion or eventual damage. When storing items away, use good judgment and be mindful of the weight in each tote and place the heaviest tote on the bottom

Q: Is this storage bin BPA and phthalate free?
A: Hi Morgan! All of our products, including the 27 Gal. Heavy Duty Storage Tote, are made of food safe grade polypropylene or polyethylene plastic. These materials have been approved by the FDA as food safe. It is the same material used to produce all of our food storage items. To ensure we offer only quality and safe products, no PVCs, Latex, Teflon, Phthalates chemicals, fungicides, Bisphenol A (BPA), or antibacterial chemicals are used in our manufacturing process. Sterilite does not use any harmful materials in the production of our products.

Q: Can this tote be left outside?
A: Hi Jaqueline! The 27 Gal. Heavy Duty Storage Tote is made out of Polypropylene plastic and was designed for general household use. This item is not waterproof and does not contain UV protection. Rain, snow, and other weather can penetrate the cracks of the lid. If using it outdoors, we suggest you cover it with a waterproof tarp, store it under a roof, or inside a garage, shed or other building to help prevent drying out from sun exposure, and to keep moisture from penetrating the unit.

Q: I love these containers but my concern is the lids so I want to ask….Is the lid easy to get off and on?Do you have to pull up the lid on each h corner to try to open it with force since it’s snapped securely etc?
