Q: Can you put these shelves on top of a desk?
A: I use them as shelves on my desk. I don't recommend for heavy items - they are wide with no middle support, so heavy items will cause them to warp over time. I love them though!

Q: is assembly required. If so is it difficult? Can you describe the assembly? Does it come with instructions?
A: It was easy for me. I had one of these in another house. Simple. No tools.

Q: How are these shelves stackable- would multiple shelves have a sturdy way of connecting to one another other than just sitting on top of each other?

submitted byClosetMaid - 6 years agoBrand expertA: They have a wood pin on each end of the shelf that secures them when they stack. Probably not super secure to stack many but I have stacked 2 and they stay together even when I have bumped them passing in the hall.

Q: How many of these can you stack on top of each other?
A: There really is not a limit as long as you properly secure them to the wall... I would say maybe 4 at the most, BUT you would very well do 5-6. but you would want to use the L bracket to attach it to the wall in order to ground it and make sure it does not tilt or fall.

A: Hello. The dimensions (Overall): 11.61 inches (H) x 30.87 inches (W) x 11.54 inches (D). And the shelves are 5 3/4" apart. Thank you for your inquiry.

A: Hello. As long as each unit is secured to the wall, and the dowels to attach them together are used, you can safely stack up to 6 units.. Do not stack units more than 72 in. high. Thank you for your inquiry.

Q: So this says it is a stackable shelf. Does this mean that if I buy two of them I could easily stack them on top of each other to make one taller shelf?
A: Hi, bought these almost 20 years ago. Still holding up. I decided to stack them and didn't have dowels, still worked.
