Q: What can you tell me about charging the battery? For example: Do I need to charge before using for the first time? Once charged, can it be used for an hour? Can it be used WHILE it's being charged?

A: Hi Carmen! Begin by charging your 3Doodler Start+ to ensure the motor is able to run at full power. This will take 45 minutes to 2 hours. Do not use the 3Doodler Start+ while charging. The light will flash orange while charging, and will turn solid orange once it is fully charged. Once fully charged, your 3Doodler Start+ will run wirelessly for 45-60 minutes. The pen itself works well enough (we’ve had it for a week now) and my 10 year old loves it. But be warned, the filament required (2.5mm) is something that only 3Doodler produces. It is NOT compatible with most of the standard filaments that are out there which means you have to buy refills from 3Doodler and they’re pricey.

It is easy to hold and a good size for any hands. It charges up fast and it is straight forward from there. The filament is in sticks like a glue sticks but thinner. Just put in and press the button to start. My kids spent hours making anything they could dream up. It dries fast. Over all I am extremely pleased. I will be purchasing refills for many imagination filled times ahead. It feels sturdy and well made so I have no doubt it will last many years.

Our daughter is very artistic so she was determined to learn it. My husband got involved and showed her how to really make things with the 3D Doodler. He made her the character in the photo! She nows loves playing and creating with it now!

Broke after only a few uses. Exchanged for a new one at target and had the same thing happen. I called customer support for the product and, to their credit, they were extremely helpful about getting a new pen out to us quickly. This one worked for a few weeks at least before eventually having the same problem. So disappointing as this would be such a cool gadget for my creative 6yo. We gave up after the third time. Plus, as others have mentioned, the battery life is shorter than my child's attention span.

It's very easy to use and comes with a little booklet on how to make docent things if your not sure where to start. I really had fun with my kids we made a robot, glasses, and tried but failed to make a tower.
